I have a Hotpoint UQ471 MK2 stove with hood incorporating light and extractor fan. When I switched on the fan, there was a loud bang and a flash and now neither the stove nor the light nor the fan will work.

Hi - I have a neff extractor fan and have the same problem. The light and fan have both stopped working. Does anybody know where I can find the fuse as I suspect that this may be the problem too?

One way to check is to track down a schematic of the parts. That will often give you a good idea of there the part attaches and how.

The FR Series fans from Fantech are glued closed to prevent air leakage. Its better to replace the fan than to try and fix it. The cheapest place to buy a Fantech fan is at http:///www.hvacquick.com as they buy direct from Fantech.
Alos the FR Series fan comes with a 5 Year Manufactures warranty.

The fuse will be located in the switch or socket that the hood is connected to. This is sometimes inside the flue on the back wall. There should be two small screws either side of the chimney located at the top, unscrew and slide one part of the chimney down, please be careful as stainless steel has very sharp edges.
