Check what version of software do you have. Do "dir" command and look at the file name. If it contains "K9" in the name, then it has "crypto" functionality, if it doesn't, then you need to find it (however it will be quite a challenge, as these routers are end-of-life for a decade...)
When the router first starts booting you need keep hitting the break sequence which should be crtl+F6 and that should bring you to ROMMON mode. you should get a prompt rommon 1>, that means you did it right. Now you need to change the configuration registers to 0x2142 by typing "confreg 0x2142". then type reset to restart the router. It should now ignore the saved config. hit crtl+c to cancel the initial setup, type "enable" to get to the enable prompt. Next type "copy startup-config running-config" to copy the startup configuration to the running configuration. Next type "configure terminal" to enter global configuration mode. Now you can type "enable secret <password>" to change the password to what you want. Last you need to change the config registers back to 0x2102 by entering the command config-register 0x2102.
If your PC/laptop is wireless to Router - try this http://www.fixya.com/support/r5198336-details_router_or_network
OR
If your PC is wired connected to Router, try this
Click
on START button Click on Run ( you will find small window to enter
command ) Type CMD ( or COMMAND ) and click OK button ( you will
see black window on screen ) Type the command where the Cursor is
blinking IPCONFIG ( hit enter key ) From the list find DEFAULT
GATEWAY Default Gateway is IP address of Router
Open Internet
Explorer Enter the No. you find for Default gateway in the address
bar ( without www or .com, just the no. ) - Click Go
You will
find the Router page open Incase if it ask you for username and
password - type Username = Admin and Password = Password
Under
Wireless settings / Advanced Wireless setting - you will find the WEP
Key
If you are using the firewall feature set on the 1841 then make sure, you have all permit statements right and nonat statements in place. Try command line as well and go over some router to router example configs from Cisco's website
yes.
when u bride modem you have to go inside ur cisco if u have ur 2wire bridge u should pick up a diffrent ip than 192.168.1.254 on the default gatewat | go to ur command prompt or DOS screen |
vista type CMD on ur search on the start menu at the bottom
xp go to RUN then type CMD | should brin up black screen
type in (ipconfig) look for default gateway |
go to ur browser and type that IP address on the address bar
should take u to ur cisco interfase | then should ask ur for a username and password try variation of admin admin or (blank) admin or admin (blank) that should get u in
if u see DHCP make it PPPoE then it should ask u for username and password from ur ISP or ur primary email address from ur ISP and password | that should do the trick
*****if u cant find username and PWD go to WAN setting manual settings then PPPoE and then USRname and PWD
Here's a real simple problem to your remote access problems. Go to: http://www.logmein.com Sign up for a free acct, download/install their free software on your Server. Now go over to your laptop, login to your new logmein acct. In the next page, you'll see your Server listed. Click on it - follow instructions to connect. This will tunnel through whatever stuff you have on your network! Trust me - esp. in your scenario, this is *by far* the *simplest remote connect you'll ever perform! And it just .... works! Everytime.
The "Virtual Server" setting is designed to give the general public access to a network resrouce (web/ftp/media server) on your internal network. If your the VPN concentrator is external to your network (meaning you'll have to use the internet to connect to it), then you won't need to define a virtual server on the DI-624.
You'll just need to enable the IPSEC and PPTP VPN Passthrough which it sounds like you've already done this. I've run into some ISP's that block VPN connections out of their network. If you have the ability, try to directly connect your laptop into your cable/DSL modem in place of your router and see if you can make a VPN connection, if not contact your ISP, if you can then verify you enabled the VPN passthroughs because your router is blocking them.
check if you can enable "VPN pass-through" on your home router. try diabling its security features (firewall) one at a time and try afterwards. last option perhaps try upgrading to the 5.06 version of the vpn client.
You'll want to enable the VPN transparency. In the router's administrative web interface, click the Security Tab, then the VPN Passthrough sub-tab. Cisco VPN's usually use IPSEC, so enable the IPSEC Pass-through and click "Save Settings". If this doesn't work enable the PPTP Pass-through as well and give that a shot.
