I would like to copy my vinyl records to CD using my sound card. I cannot figure out how to activate/use my aux input on my sound card.
Please help.
Thanks, Bob

Depending on what soundcard driver you have, you may need to set it as a mic input.
Also, when you do get the vinyl/digital bridged, you'll need a way to record it. There are cards specifically for recording, which use hardware encoders - but if that's not something you want to shell out for, you need the software to record. Adobe Audition is a premier recording / editing system which would be your best choice, most likely. Unfortunately, it also costs quite a bit of money. Sadly, I do not know of a cheap or free recording suite at the moment.
There are usb record players now. Phonograph recordings use an RIAA curve which is decoded in a stereo preamplifier using the "Phono" input. You can use the Preamp out if you have one on the preamp but you cannot go straight from the phonograph to the sound card because of the RIAA curve -it would sound horrible. You could also try using the headphone output of the preamp to the "Line in" on the computer.Steve Medley
