Hi the problem is, is that the system is overheating. Meaning the extractor fans inside the machine could be taking in excessive heat from over systems and the machine is trying to turn off before any damage to the system. Solution: Move it to a more open area!

Is it possible to connect a record deck to my Harman Kardon HS500 system

You can connect a turntable to the HK receiver provided the turntaable has a phonograph preamplifier. If not one can be purchased. You can use any line input on the receiver.

I have an HK AVR 355 system, that worked just fine. Yesterday I tried to hook up a new TV, and ended up taking a few cable out since they were not imoportaint any more and only used HDMI cable. Now when I...

Obviously you removed (or disturbed) something that was really necessary to the DVD's digital audio path. "Doesn't work" is pretty non-specific.

Do a web search for "HK AVR 355 manual" and download it. Then read the part about assigning digital audio sources and speaker configuration setup.

Look at the Troubleshooting Guide part that mentions the Channel Indicator Display (page 33).

Fiber Optic input

No gots. The 3485 is pre-digital stereo-only.

From the manual, page 19

"You may have observed that the HK 3485 is not equipped with digital audio inputs or surround sound decoding. If you prefer the complete home theater experience, you may wish to consider purchasing a fullfeatured Harman Kardon AVR Series audio/video receiver. However, we hope you will find that using a DVD player with the HK 3485 in smaller settings, such as a bedroom or den, surpasses the audio performance of most televisions, including those with onboard stereo speakers."

Connection between harmon receiver and A-bus in wall speakers...

There is a CAT5/RJ45 A-Bus interface on the back of the HK AVR 435. That needs to connect to your A-BUS "hub". HK has two hub products: ABH-4000 and ABH-4 (older). Then CAT5 cable can be run from this hub to Wall-installed room-specific controls. HK has the AB-2 product, but any ABus compatible wall control will work. From the wall control, you wire regular audio cable to the speakers. So, some of the questions/issues to solve are: where do the existing wires go that are connected to the in-wall speakers? Typically that location is where to place your in-wall volume and source controls. Then the CAT5 gets wired from those controls back to the hub. And all that's required is a single CAT5 from the AVR to the Hub.

Panasonic SA-HT940

F61 is a problem with the output amplifier pac. It is the equivalent of "protect" mode. The output pac needs to be replaced. I'll look up the part number for you.
