What kind of dishes can be used in my microwave oven?

As these dishes were designed by Corning for a 650 watt over, you can recalculate preheat and cooking times for your oven with the following formula:

650/(your oven's wattage) x (listed preheat time or cook time)

For example, for a Corning MW-9 dish, they list 4 minutes maximum preheat time. I have a 1,580 watt oven. So 650/1580 = .41 x 4 minutes = 1.64 minutes and about a minute and a half preheat. (MAX).

The magnetron (m.w. generator) thermostat lost calibration, try to replace it.
And don't forget to cover the dish with ceramic/glass lid.

I have just be given on of these with the same problem. The plastic hub which locates in the dish can be pulled out. It might be a bit of a fiddle. On mine the plastic shaft had worn so I coated the hub with good quality super glue and put it back in place. I have used it on microwave and also oven and so for it has worked perfectly. Be careful as it may be possible to use too much super glue and it run down the motor shaft. Hope this helps.

The same thing happened to ours last night. We went to add another minute of cooking time and realized the oven was dead - no clock, no display of any kind, and no more cooking!

I've verified the power outlet is OK. Ideas???

Most likely, the bowl is not a microwave approved bowl. Simply b/c the bowl is glass does not mean it is safe for microwave use. Hope this helps.

You can order a replacement dish here. The dish shattered because the heat from the bag of popcorn was too much for it. If you look at the owner's manual for almost every microwave, they tell you not to put popcorn directly on the glass dish, but to put it on another plate.

The oven should be safe to use. Just look for any burned spots on the paint in the bottom of the cooking cavity.

How old is the unit?

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.
