GE cordless phone 2.4 ghz

I have had this phone for about a year.Lately when I talk on it for anything more than 10 or 20 minutes, it will suddenly give me really loud static and then disconnect the call. The static will keep on until I hang up the phone. I just put a brand new battery in the phone.Help! What is going on ?The person on the other end says that they do not hear any static when this happens but they do get a little short noise and then they are disconnected.

Your phone must be away from other appliances (i.e. microwaves, radios) and computer equipment (i.e. wireless routers, monitors). The phone runs on 2.4GHz which often conflicts with them.

GE cordless phones

If the cordless phones are old 2.4GhZ phones, and you have wireless internet (which is probably also 2.4GhZ), the wi-fi could be messing with the phone signal/channel. Some cordless phones have a switch that allows you to switch channels. If so on your phone, try that.

This was happening to me, along with my internet connection dropping off every time the phone rang. So I went out and got a set of Dect 6.0 cordless phones, and the problem went away.

Good luck.

6.0 GE cordless phone

For GE 6.0: There is a button on the base lower right corner  (NOT the phone), you need to press it once again to turn off Do Not Disturb

For GE 5.8 GHz:
1. Pick up the phone handset and dial *98.
2. Press 2 to disable Do Not Disturb.
3. Once you hear the confirmation that Do Not Disturb has been disabled, you may hang up the phone handset.

Hope this helps!

Interference phone line

Lots of different devices may be interfering with the transmit side of your phone. In today's world of heavy radio frequency usage by consumer devices it is hard to know exactly what may be interfering with your cordless phone. Even some cell phones could be causing the interference. The 6.0 gig phones do not have that problem.
