SOURCE: PS3 cant go online with Belkin N1 wireless router

I have exactly the same issue as some of you above. As soon as I start my PS3 I manage to log onto the network for anywhere between 2 seconds and 2 minutes before I get the dreaded 80710102 error and have to reboot the PS3 to reconnect. I wrote to Belkin tech support and got the following reply... I Haven't tried it yet so don't know if it really works but thought I'd post it up here in case it helps anyone else out...

Hi Antony,

Thank you for contacting Belkin Technical Support.

We understand that the router does not support PS3. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

A) To isolate the problem, please follow the steps given below to update the firmware and configure the router:

We recommend that you update the firmware from a computer that is connected to the router with an ethernet cable.

Please download only the relevant firmware on the router from the link given below. The firmware file would be according to the router version:

http://www.belkin.com/uk/support/article/?lid=enu&pid=F5D8635uk4A&aid=14489&scid=0

and save it to the computer.

- To update the firmware, log on to the router`s web interface by typing in http://192.168.2.1 in the address bar of the browser. The computer should be
connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
Note: If you have changed your Router’s IP address, use that IP address.
- By default, the password is blank. Click the "Submit" button.
- Click on "Firmware Upgrade" under the option "Utilities".
- Click on “Browse” and select the bin file that you have downloaded.
- Click on “update” and follow the wizard.
- After updating the firmware, restore the router to factory defaults by clicking on "Restore Factory Defaults" under "Utilities".
- Reconfigure the router.

Please follow the steps given below for configuring the router:

- Disconnect the computer from your Modem provided by your "Internet Service Provider" (ISP) if it is connected to the computer.

- Reset the router to "Factory Defaults". The reset button is found at the back of the router. The reset procedure is,

- Unplug the power cable and then plug it back again. Wait for 5 seconds.
- Locate the reset button (inside a hole) at the back of the router.
- Hold down the reset button till the power-light turns solid, and then release it.

- Connect the router to either the telephone line or the filter.

- Connect the computer to port number 1 of the router.

- Make sure the corresponding lights are lit. The telephone light should be ON and solid.

- Make sure your computer has a valid IP address by following the steps given below.

1. Click on “Start” -> “Run” -> and type “CMD” and click “OK”.
2. Type “ipconfig” in the black window and check the IP address.
3. It should be in the range of 192.168.2.x, where “x” ranges from 2 to 254.

- If it is not a valid IP Address, please assign a static IP address, "Subnet Mask", “Default Gateway" and "DNS Addresses" in the computer by referring to the link below.

http://web.belkin.com/support/kb/kb.asp?a=2824

- Please reset the Internet Explorer browser settings by following the steps below.

- Open Internet Explorer. Click on “Tools” -> “Internet Options”.
- Under the General tab, click on “Delete Files” under “Temporary
Internet Files” and select "Delete all Offline content" box.
- Click on “Clear History”.
- Under the Connections tab, select “Never Dial a Connection” and
click on “LAN settings”. Uncheck all the options and click on “OK”.
- Under the Advanced tab, click on “Restore Defaults”.
- Click on “Apply” and then “OK”.

- Log on to router setup page by typing “192.168.2.1” in the address bar of the browser. By default the password is blank.

- On the left under “Internet WAN”, click on the option "Connection Type".

- Select “PPPOA”, (If it is ADSL)/ PPPOE (If it is DSL) and click on “next”.

- Type in the user-name and password and then re-type the password given to you by your ISP. Make sure you type in the full user-name.
For Example, the format for the User-name should be "[email protected] or .net"

- Also confirm the settings of “VPI/VCI”, “Encapsulation” values from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and configure the same.

- Change the “MTU” to “1400”.

- Click on “Apply Changes” button at the bottom. Wait till it saves the data.

- Click on Home on the right top corner and then click on the "Connect" button. You should be able to go online.

B) Configuration of PS3:

Please contact Sony and assign static IP address and DNS on the PS3. The static IP address should be assigned in the range of the router. For example: 192.168.2.200. The IP address you assign should not be used by any other device on the network. Please confirm the ports to be opened for the PS3 from Sony.

1) Please follow the instructions given below to forward the port numbers for PS3 on the router:

- Please open the Internet Explorer and in the address bar type in "192.168.2.1" and "Enter". The computer should be connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
- Leave the password blank and click on "submit".
- Click on "Virtual server" under the "Firewall".
- Enter the port number under "Inbound port" & "Private port".
- Enter the Static IP address of the PS3 under the "Private IP address".
- Check the "Enable" box and click on "Apply changes".

2) Please follow the instructions given below to enable UpnP on the router:

- Log on to the router web interface at http://192.168.2.1
- By default, the password is blank.
- Click on System setting under "Utilities".
- Against the heading "UPNP Enabling", choose "Enable".
- Click on "Apply changes".

Note: The NAT feature on the router is enabled by default.

If the problem persists, please get back to us with the following information:

1. Type of connection provided by your ISP (Is it PPPOE, Dynamic or Static).
2. Name of the Internet service provider (ISP).
3. Version number of the router. You would find the version number on the bottom of the device. It would be a number in a series of thousands with a prefix “ver.”. Please confirm if the router is F5D8635?
4. Using the router, if the connection is stable on all the wired and wireless computers?
5. If the PS3 works fine with other networks?
6. When does the error come up? If it comes up for both, CAT5 and CAT6 cables?

SOURCE: get dns error when i try to connect ot internet

Try entering all your info manually, Disable Auto IP,DNS and DHCP on your PS3. If that does not work, many help gurus claim that entering 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 will work, NO GARUTEE

Verizon dsl and cisco valet

Connect your computer directly to the Internet modem and make sure that you have Internet access directly from the modem.
If that is working properly then connect the modem to the Internet port on the router. Connect the computer to port 1 on the router.
Reset the router and configure it manually.

Here is link which will help you troubleshoot Cisco Valet M10 or M20 router

Can 807101 ps3 be solved

If you keep getting this ps3 error 807101ff, then somethings definitely wrong with your online communication. To be specific, you are having what it called a DNS error. You see, the DNS settings on your network is your means of contacting and communicating with an online server. In the case of the ps3, that online server happens to be a game server. Without a correct DNS setting, your online network is "doomed", or put in another way, useless.

807101ff problem? It's really quite easy! What you can do is to try the POWER CYCLING method. To do this, turn off your ps3 and all of your networking devices like the modem and router. Remove the power cord of the router and modem as well, to be sure. You then wait for a short while, like a few minutes.

After the short wait, you can now connect back the modem and turn it on. After you get a solid light on the modem, connect back the router. The last thing you turn on is the ps3. This way, your ps3 would be able to try obtaining an IP address. Likewise, it will also try to establish a stable DNS setting. This technique works most of the time in solving the problem

Hope this helps you!

Any further questions feel free to ask.

IP Adress Can't be Read By PS3

Well, I'm not completely sure how to help exactly. This problem sometimes prompts as "DNS" error followed by an error code. If it displays a DNS error, then your problem is that the PS3 cannot find the modem (and router if you have it connected that way).
DNS errors on the PS3 simply means that it cannot find (see) the modem/router.
One way of correcting this would be to reset your modem (and router if you have it connected that way)by unplugging it (from wall and power port). Keep it unplugged for 1 minute or so. Power down your PS3 at the same time.
Plug in your modem (and router if you have it connected that way) and allow for it to reset.
Now power on your PS3 and go to the network settings and establish a new wired connection. Follow the prompts and test the connection afterwards.
Mind you, this is a general means to solving the problem. Try this first to see if you are successful.
I do hope that this helps you.

Well firstly my ps3 console keeps telling me i have a dns error and i tried your soluotions but i cant find where is allow other connectins to connet option

16x16_smiley-wink.gif Not aware of any DNS servers that are hosted by Sony However,DNS servers are hosted by your ISP, if you are getting a DNS error, Iwould be willing to bet that you are also unable to surf the interneton another PC. Best thing to do in this case is reboot your modem (Cable or DSL), your router, and your PS3, in that order. That way everything has time to sync up, grab a IP address, DNS, etc. shut the power off on your modem for about 30sec and turn it back on let i tboot up and try again

Have you rebooted your modem after hooking it up? Each time you move your connection from your modem, it must be rebooted to issue new information specific to your equipment. Also, make sure you haven't pushed the "Standby" button on the top.
