Connect your computer directly to the Internet modem and make sure that you have Internet access directly from the modem. Haveing problems with moderate nat

Open up the Browser interface to your Linksys (http://192.168.1.1/ if you left it as default), and go to your Security section. On the Filter tab, check the box beside "Filter NAT Redirect" and "Save" at the bottom.
If you have an Xbox and you keep the settings as automatic in the network area, you should have an open NAT.

I have an M20 Valet

This is not an easy solution. They do sell range extenders that plug into wall outlets and extend range, but they are not very reliable. Another solution is to configure another wireless router to be an access point. This involves turning off DHCP (the service that give out IP addresses) and just relaying your original signal from the Valet. The problem with this solution is that wireless routers only have one radio, so in order to send and ercieve information from the original router, it constantly needs to switch modes from listening to sending. This cuts your bandwidth in half. the best solution is to run a network cable to a wireless access point (not a router) located on the outer edge of your wireless network right now. Give it the same name. This way, as you walk with a laptop from one area to another, it will seemlessly switch from one access point to another, with no interruptions.

Connecting new HP desktop - hardwiring into CISCO

Make sure that the plug is in thr correct port of the router. The ethernet cable going from the modem to the router should be plugged into a port labeled WAN or Internet. Then, after that's done, unplug your modem for about 30 seconds or so to delete the MAC address saved in the modems memory. Modems can only "speak" to one device, and they always remember the address of the device they were "talking" to. You need to clear that memory out so that the modem can address the new device, which is the new router in your case. hope that this was helpful.

Changing my nat type on

Hello,
There are two things you could do from the routers end..
1) You can take the IP add of your device( X-box, PS3) and then contact the device vendor(Xbox or PS3) and ask them to give port numbers for your device. Once u get the port numbers you can either open ports on the router by logging into the router interface using your Default gateway of the router or you could put the IP add of your device in DMZ on the router. Basically this will keep the device out of the firewall of the router( Which is the main reason for this issue). 2) If the first step didnt work you could disable the firewall on the router. If both the steps didnt work you could check if your router has any firmware update or it has to be reset and re-configured and the above steps should be re-done.
Hope this helped.
