I have a PC eMachines T2642. I could get online on Monday night with no problem. However, I tried to get online last night, but couldn't. Then, I tried to use my laptop to get online and I could, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the internet connection. In fact, when I unplug the ethernet cable from the PC, the computer still thinks that the cable is plugged into it. Also, whether the cable is plugged or not, the computer just says "Limited or no Connectivity." I tried system restore to an earlier day, but it still won't work. Please help. Thanks.
Do you know will it be expensive to replace the port if the port is really damaged? Also, will the problem be fixed if I go for wireless network (given the port IS broken)? Thanks!

System restore wouldn't have helped what you need to do is figure out if the Ethernet port is working. take it to a shop and have them look at it it's probably a broken or damaged plug

It sounds like a dead motherboard. Try removing the CMOS(BIOS) battery and replacing it. Then try removing and replacing the CPU as well. If you get the same result then you might be looking at replacing the motherboard.

It's either a dead power supply or a fried motherboard. Emachines are cheap junk, their power supplies and motherboards die all the time, just look around here on Fixya for proof. Instead of saving a buck, consider buying a better brand.
