Only the small burner ignites, but when I move the small diffuser to a different burner it ignites. The small burner is the only one that does ignite. Also it take the oven very long to preheat. This is a used unit, GE XL44. Is it possible that I have a propane unit or that the gas line is 1/2" instead of 3/4"?

Check the tiny holes on the burners the hole goes toward the spark.it allows gas through to the spark.alo make shure you are etting a spark there.
as far as the oven, you could have a bad bake ignitor.

Gas flow, igniters lights burner won't light

Sometimes grease or other cooking debris interferes with the igniter spark. Try gently cleaning around the electrode as well as the bottom of the gas diffuser with an abrasive pad.

Delayed oven ignition

see the next steps and proceed with common sense:God bless you

Fuel Type
If this is a new installation make sure the gas valve has been properly adjusted for the type of gas. Lp and natural gas use different orfices and pressures. A conversion kit is available.

Burner
The burners may need to be cleaned. There are small holes that allow gas through holes that are ignited by the igniter. These holes can become clogged up. You can usually clean these with a toothpick or small wire, watch the video. If it is the oven burner and you have a small flame or it does not stay lit check the video on troubleshooting a gas range.

Gas Valve
The gas valve rarely fails but this can. If the gas burners are clean and the gas valve is properly adjusted replace the gas valve. This should be done by a professional. Leaks can be very dangerous and also the gas pressure needs to be adjusted for the type of fuel you are using.

Burners wont light can be lit with a match. gravy boiled over in burners.

Well the first step is to clean off both the spark thingies and the aluminum piece (the flame diffusers) with the holes in it where the gas comes through. You might want to boil up some water and drop them in if they pull out. Some GEs screw the flame diffusers down to the cooktop, in which case I would recommend you leave them in place- often the screws become brittle from repeatedly being heated up and break when you try to remove them.

At any rate, you need to get all the holes as clear as possible, using a needle or thin nail or something like that and clean off the spark igniters (finishing off with fine sandpaper or emery board works well- just enough to get the metal back to silver color)

One thing about spark igniters- when you turn one dial, all the spark igniters create sparks (or should). Do none of the burners work, or just the one where the gravy spilled over?

Spark ignitors on ge jgp636 either don't work or lght wrong burnr

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

Whirlpool stove top- two problems. 1) burner is not burning hot, low flame 2) igniter on different burner doesnt work, no spark at that burner.

Hi

If the burner is not burning hot, and there is a low flame then this is often a pressure regulator problem. Most often the regulator is found where the gas line enters the gas range. I have a picture of what the flame characteristics should look like. If the igniter on different burner doesn’t work, and there is no spark at that burner then you will have to check the same items as mentioned above. This is a typical spark module wire diagram.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Burner will not ignite.

facing the spark ignition, the burner has small holes that need to be clean, those holes are going down on the side of the burners, take a look a the ones that are working so that you can see the small flames going down facing the electronic pilot call the spark ignitiong, you can take a safety pin or a paper clip and clean them. many times the ignition is between the front and rear burners, it's where the spark ignite the burners.

1 burner wont stop clicking on miele cooktop km 344

We have an older Thermador Gas Cooktop type range. It was working fine until the cleaning crew came in, then all the burner igniters were clicking when turning on a single burner. I solved the problem by cleaning off the igniters. I first of course unplugged the power. Then I took a small wire telcom pic tool to scrape the white and brown deposits from the sides of the igniters. You could probably use something else similiar to do the scraping. I noticed a shiny surface underneath. I then went ahead and scraped and brushed clean the mating surface where the spark travels. I then vacuumed up the mess. My burners all worked great after this. Hope this helps!
