Live headphone feed? and spdif feed question?

Hey everyone
i can't seem to get a live headphone feed out of my phones outputs on the firewire 410 card to monitor the levels and the sound at all. i want to multitrack and hear whats going on in the card whilst its happening?
i also want to make use of the spdif in to make it a real 4 in [unlike what i thought it was when i bought it] and want to know if i can run a feed out of my edirol r-09 [which has an optical out - minijack though] into the spdif in [via the RCA in or coaxial]... is this possible and if so, how?
thanks. really would appreciate any help at all.  looking forward to hearing from you...

SOURCE: M-Audio FireWire 410 External Distorted Playback...

Hello have you disabled all the built on sound cards on your computers? This is a known problem. If you are going to use a great product like M-audio disable any onboard audio card. Then try to use the 410 system. If you still have the problem try changing the latency to 4-5

SOURCE: m-audio firewire 410 problem

Hi isterix!
I also have a 410 on a acer 1502 laptop with xp. I installed the latest driver (5.10.00.5053) and i have sound (after changing sound preferences in panel control) but it makes me peaks in the playback. I think it's due to the driver, that is the same also for windows vista. I'll try to install the previous one and i'll tell you!

SOURCE: RECORDING GUITAR USING AUDIOPHILE FIREWIRE AND GUITAR RIG 3

I've ran the audio in on my sound card to my mixer and had the guitar on the mic in.  I've also ran the line in to a small cracker amp.  Keep it turned down. If I would directly connect it use an adaptor.  I haven't tried using a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and directly connected to it as I wanted to control the tone. I don't see why it wouldn't work.  Keep everything muted and turned all the way down when you first connect it.  Then start raising volumes slowly  I will try and report back As far as spdif you're just recording analog to digital conversion.  I get more realisitc sound just keeping it analog til it hits my line in.  Have a quality sound card.  Not some walmart special.  I use Adobe Audition 1.5 to multichannel record.

My M-audio FireWire 410 doesn't work

It sounds like you may be experiencing a configuration issue with your M-Audio FireWire 410 audio interface. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the connections: Make sure that the FireWire 410 is securely connected to your computer and that all cables are properly plugged in. If the connections are loose or faulty, it can cause problems with the audio output.
  2. Restart the device: Sometimes, restarting the audio interface can resolve issues with the audio output. To do this, disconnect the FireWire 410 from your computer, wait a few seconds, and then reconnect it.
  3. Update the drivers: It is possible that the drivers for your FireWire 410 may be out of date or incompatible with your operating system. To update the drivers, visit the M-Audio website and download the latest drivers for your device. Once the drivers are installed, restart your computer and try using the FireWire 410 again.
  4. Check the settings: Make sure that the FireWire 410 is selected as the default audio device in your operating system's audio settings. You can access these settings by going to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound. Under the Playback and Recording tabs, select the FireWire 410 and click the Set Default button.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it is best to contact M-Audio support for further assistance. They should be able to provide you with specific guidance for troubleshooting the problem with your FireWire 410.

I have a Dell Latitude e6420 and I want to find and use the spdif output. There appears to be a led in the headphone output jack but under the Sounds menu no spdif?

did you ask dell first on their forum. be best,
what does find mean? the jack, or the driver or both.?
there is no led in any headphone jack that is analog out, not SPDIF. (for sure) the book even tells you that.
im reading your manual now at dell, and there is no such port.
on this PC.

How to connect tv with spdif output to altec lansing FX5051 subwoofer?

Hello Vijay, to connect your TV with SPDIF audio output to your Altec Lansing FX5051, you must intersperse a digital audio to audio converter with RCA outputs or 3.5 mm jack output
This device has digital input, for fiber optic or coaxial, output has two RCA connectors and can also come with a 3.5 mm connector as headphone output
I send you converter links, so you know what I'm talking about
I hope you serve my comment
Greetings Franco Dosil

LG 55LS4500 55 in. TV has sound through speakers, no audio except a hum from headphones and the optical digital to analog output fiber lights up but no sound output What board is bad?

Hi Louis,
The audio circuitry is located in the main board. Try unplugging the TV for a while and try again if the audio comes back.
I would suggest to check all your settings in the audio section first and if everything seems OK then the main board should be replaced.

No sound on my macbook

Check if there is any sound coming out of the headphone (using headphone and playing itunes).
If there is none. Goto System Preference > Hardware > Sound > Output ; check if the output is assign to internal speaker and it is not muted.
Do a visual check at the headphone connector, look into it, see if you see a red light emit from the headphone jack (indicate that the fault is in the headphone connector, it's trying to output optical spdif).

Where is the headphone socket on a LT24M3

This is a link to the manual.http://www.haier.com/admin/en/product/upload/LT24M3-UM.pdf
On P.08 it shows the input and outputs. This television does not have a headphone jack. It has a digital audio output which is the SPDIF output.
To use headphones with the television you would need to get a digital to analog converter. Something similar to what is shown here: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=180-998
You would also need a digital audio cable (SPDIF cable). They are about $15-$30 depending on where you get it and the brand.
You would connect the SPDIF cable to the television output and the digital to analog converter box (DAC), and connect the headphones to the DAC box.

Headphone jack stopped working for acer aspire 5520

If running Vista or Win7 then could be that SPDIF output is set as output device instead of the headphones as output. Try mixer controls or control panel applet.

Acer aspire 5920 SPDIF problem

You need to go to audio properties and change the output when using headphones. SPDIF is the high def signal that you would use if you had a home theater set without HDMI
