This sounds like a lazy lamp--that is getting hard to start. Try a new lamp first. If you are inclined to do so--get a bard bulb and install in the old lamp housing and save some money. Get a real PHILLIPS bulb--it will last a while--compared to cheap generics that are good for maybe 6 months !!

The tv have a colors wheel,have a whinning high pitch sound,mean colors wheel is warping not spinning right any more.The colors wheel is dead,must be replaced.The tv have high pitch sound,shutdown the projection lamp.The projection lamp might be dead or not?Not yet determine dead or just shutdown by the nonfunction of the colors wheel.

it could be either the coils on the yoke of the tube or the flyback. flyback would need to be replaced it that is the problem

If the sound goes away when you turn it off, its the colorwheel. If it keeps running for another 1-2 minutes (cooldown) then its a fan. Both are changeable by a technical person, the colorwheel being much more intensive disassembly. Let me know if you need help there.

The horizontal transistor and the flyback are damaged

most likely the HOT high voltage transformer is squeling

Is the noise present even when there is no input?

According to the Samsung website: "The high pitched sound you hear is probably coming from the flyback transformer. The flyback transformer converts the relatively low voltage electricity that comes from the outlet in your home to the high voltage electricity needed to drive the cathode ray tube in your TV. It is not unusual for a flyback transformer to buzz softly when it operates. However, if the sound is loud and high pitched, it probably means the transformer is failing. To eliminate the sound, you will have to get your TV serviced."
