HDMI input problems

My hd lcd works fine with all connection except for HDMI. If I use the HDMI input for HD signal the picture is initially perfect, but then color fades to black&white after about 10-20seconds. The picture remains excellent- but no colors, and the sound doesn't seem to travel via HDMI- only with separate coax (rca-type connection). My initial thought was to replace the board associated with HDMI input, problem is that the part # on the board doesn't appear to be available through any vendors. A local lcd repair shop couldn't even find a part # for the HDMI input. On the positive side I can still use component video inputs for HD signal, only that leave the S-video for my DVD player. Any ideas on cause and/or fix?

HDMI is suppose to carry sound. With the rest of the symptoms you describe, the first thing I would try is to replace that cable with a good quality one.

SOURCE: Inaccurate color with HDMI input

Sony admits that it is not a compatiblity problem. The tech hookei will ever buy!d up his Sony DVD and it lacked red. He then changed a small board, then a large one. Nothing helped. He then checked and found that even the composite inputs were not giving red. Now they say it is the B-Box. That has been replaced 2X already when they could not get the cable card to work. I have about had it with Sony. That is probably the very last Sony product that

SOURCE: yellowish color from DVD

Hello Tsmith4,
Have you tried another source such as a HD cable box on the same component input (Y Pr Pb) By doing this you will eliminate the TV or the DVD player. If the picture shows great using the cable box on that same input then we will assume that the TV is ok for now. You may want to also check the DVD menu under progressive scan that it is set to progressive scan. if the picture is still not good, we would want to look at the I/O board on the TV. The red path after the Video switch maybe open. If this is the case we will have to go to board replacement. I will tell you what board to change.

Best regards

No, that will not damage the input. But if you are using component input and the green wire is off or not connected correctly it will prevent a picture from coming on. The green is the luminance and carries the main picture signal.

LC-26DA5U 26 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television: i connect a hdmi cable 2 my hd cable box - the pic...

The cable box needs to be set to send different signals when using hd tv and standard tv. Usually a good setting would be 720p in hd and 480p in standard. The tv is working fine it is the cable box sending the signal. If you have another hdmi source such as a dvd player you may hook that up to show the tv is working just fine.
