Probably 'malware' (installed by software you wanted to have)
when some software is installed, 'free' software is also installed, Like toolbars and security software. They always run in the background, or when a browser is opened. Then they 'maintain' settings (I.e. search page & home page settings).

you can:
-disable toolbars in browser (that you don't want/use)
-diable/uninstall/remove software/features that you don't use
("always run" / "auto start")
-check your AV: McAfee/AVG/Norton. They also maintain your
search/home address settings.

if you notice new icons by the clock (that you don't need/use) remove/disable/uninstall the problem program.

Downloading means you retrive any files and save to your PC/Laptop from any web source!
Installing means you install any software/programs to run on your PC/Laptop.

As for your software "Photo Explosion 2.0" could not run on Win 7 due to software "Compatibility Issues".

Skype is very particular about webcams using the latest drivers. If you installed the software using a CD the chances are the software is out of date.

Procedure to install software from the website:-
Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Microsoft
Run the installer and choose your options when prompted
Connect your webcam when prompted.
Once you have your webcam installed you can configure it to the chat program of your choice.
When using Skype do not run your webcam using the Lifecam software but let Skype have full control

What OS is the computer running? The software isn't guaranteed to work with 64-bit Windows. (Windows 2000 through Vista are tested. Win 7 is an untested OS)

If you have Win7, you can try running the software in the compatibility mode. Right click on the Installer (.exe) and choose Properties. Click on the Compatibility Tab and check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode and use the drop down menu to select Vista or XP. Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

Another option is to run the software in a virtual computer running a supported OS. Win7 Pro and Ultimate support the XP mode which needs two programs downloaded and installed from Microsoft. Otherwise you need a licensed version of the OS to install in the virtualization program. Then install the camera software inside the virtual computer (as if it was the only computer).

Hi. Try to use and install the software again using the installation cd. When it runs, it should pop up the window with 3 options: Install a printer, Update/Upgrade, or Install additional softwares. Choose install additional softwares. In the next window, place a check mark in Fax solutions. Then, continue and finish the installation. Uninstall and Reinstall Office 2003 as an administrator. Make sure you leave the setup files on the computer with the office installer prompts you. Then run office updates repeatedly until there are no more updates available.
You software is most likely using a feature of Office 2003 that is not installed and it is trying to install it on 1st use. Trying a complete install may fix this problem as well.

Perform a clean installation:

1) uninstall the current kodak software from your OS
2) run the clear utility

3) run disk clean up using default selections
4) reinstall the software again using the latest version www.kodak.com/go/easysharesw

there's always an administrator (even if it's the one and only user).

what version of windows? (I'm assuming windows).

if Vista you can try to run the installer as administrator (find the install program, right-click, choose run as administrator).

Reboot

Shut down any active protection software such any antivirus, antispyware, antitrojan, or registry monitoring software.

Try to Unistall by using the install disk. It should detect a previous installation and ask if you want to Install, Repair, or Uninstall.

If that fails, download and run CCleaner - Use the Cleaner and Regisrty modules default settings

Download and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
