I have a Sony digital camera model # DSC S75. I would like the largest memory stick available for still photos. I get confused with GM and MB. I found one for 32 GB, is that the lrgest and about how much...

I did a bit of research on this, and you're going to have to be very careful. Your camera is only compatible with the very first generation of "memory stick". That sounds like a generic term, but it's actually a Sony specification. Please take a look at the wikipedia page on memory stick, and note all the newer versions. Also note that the 'memory stick' is no longer manufactured. Here is a list of memory sizes, I agree that the Mb and Gb are confusing. Each one is double the size of the one before.

8 Mb
16 Mb
32 Mb
64 Mb
128 Mb
256 Mb
512 Mb
1 Gb
2 Gb
4 Gb
8 Gb
16 Gb
32 Gb
64 Gb

Now, you will have to find a genuine Sony "memory stick" and not the Pro, or Duo, or anything like that. When they were manufactured, the largest one was 128 Mb, so that is the limit for your camera. Anything in "Gb" or Gigabytes cannot be a memory stick. I did find 128Mb memory sticks on Amazon. The review page on DPreview will tell you how many pictures you can store on a card half the size, just double it.

I have a dell dimension 4600. It has original memory cards installed. 2 256 MB for a total of 512 ram. I recently tried to install 1 GB memory card. When I start up computer it beeps several times,...

hello

several beeps in a system is caused by a memory issue -- If you've recently added or tried to add additional memory to the computer and have started getting these beeps. Remove all new memory you've added to the computer. If the computer works fine after removing the new memory you're encountering either an incompatibility or defective new memory.

Sometimes when the computer is moved and/or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer.

If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer.

If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick of memory and boot the computer. If this does not resolve the issue try removing that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory.

the specs can be found at this link
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4600/en/4600i/sm/specs.htm

the system you have is upgradable to 4G of RAM, and this RAM must be installed in equal pairs
so if you have 4 slots to insert memory in (assuming you will retain the 2 256M) , you must install the other slots by 2 512M, 2 1G or 2 2G DIMMs -- make sure you isntall exact same DIMMs, dont mix memory makers or specs, other than what Dell specifies

memory type must be
PC2700 (333-MHz) or PC3200 (400-MHz) DDR SDRAM
(non-ECC)

i hope this helps --

I have 512 mg of memory. Would there be a big difference if I add a 1 gb stick and keep the 512 mb , as oppose to removing the 512 mb and replace with two 1 gb sticks?

The performance of your laptop will improve if similar memory is placed in each of memory slot.If 1gb memory and 512mb memory are placed in available slot you will only get the performance of a single 1gb memory.but two 1gb memory are used performance will be similar to a 2gb ram or more.

Memory Stick error

Hello!

Following types of memory sticks are compatible with the Camera model DSC-V1:

Memory stick: 32/64/128 MB
Memory stick Pro: 256 MB/512 MB/1 GB/2 GB.
Mark 2 Memory stick Pro: 1/2 GB.

However, in order to use Memory Stick Duo or MagicGate Memory Stick Duo media with the Camera, a dedicated adapter (MSAC-M2) must be attached.

Follow the steps given below to troubleshoot the Camera that is not recognizing any compatible memory sticks:

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C186797

Furthermore, you may try resetting the Camera to the original factory settings by pressing and holding the Reset button for 30 seconds.

If the issue persists even after performing all the above mentioned steps then the Camera is required to be diagnosed and serviced.

No you don't have to install a 64 bit OS. Only if you install over 3 gigs you MUST install a 64 bit operating system. 800MHZ is fine it will just back down to 667MHZ. your 32bit windows OS will see up to 3 gigs (minus graphics card memory). SO 2 gigs will work fine. Install one stick at a time and check in the OS and bios to make sure each stick works. I would say you possibly have a dead ram stick.
