My Dell XPS M1530 with service tag number, JLTQV3J. I bought a replaceable batter recently and after charging it for 8 hrs, powered it "on" after 2-3 minutes, the battery icon started showing warning sign of battery low and the 93% remaining. I inserted it in my neighbour's system (The same model and specifications) the sign disappeared. I also inserted his own battery to my system and the sign appeared. What could be the problem though the original OS was Windows Vista but have changed to Windows 7. Please help me. Patrick.
Try to see if there is a BIOS update for your laptop. The last version is A12. That sometimes will fix the problem. If not then it is most likely that the internal charger is built into the motherboard of the laptop is starting to fail. You would have to replace that part or most likely the entire motherboard.
