SOURCE: wont continue to run after prime and start

often the last ounce of gas in the tank has some crud in it. Get a can of carbeurator cleaner spray. Remove the air filter and squirt three short bursts of the cleaner spray into the air port and then start it. Keep giving it short bursts of carb. cleaner until it runs smoothly again.

SOURCE: idol goes up and down

There should be a spring that acts as a governor, kinda stabilizes the idle, mabey stretched or in wrong hole, but shouldnt be if it hasnt been touched. Usually when the pushmowers start acting like that there is crud somewhere in the carb. Take the carb completely apart, hell order a rebuild kit, theyre not that much, but take it completely apart. spray it down real good, take a piece of welding wire and poke through those small holes. Make sure you take an air gun afterwards and give it the once over before installing.

SOURCE: I have a yard machine

Your carbs main jet is blocked. Using the primer supplements the fuel input and keeps the engine from becoming fuel starved.

You need to remove the main jet and run a strand of fine wire through the jet to clear it.

Does a ***** boy 50cc have a reed valve? Bike

Hi first thing what is the bike second thing is the engine a 2 stroke, if it is 2 stroke it most prob. has a reed valve, check that the carb needle valve is working as it should, then drain the cylinder and crank of fuel check the plug sparks, leave the carb off and put a small amount of petrol in it, try and start it if it fires once or twice, then it should start with the carb on it, if not there is a problem with the carb. good luck.

I have a 1991 honda cr 250 I cant get to start at fist gas ran right thru carb and out bottom i took carb apart and got the floats to stop sticking cleaned it out with carb cleaner put back together but...

try a new spark plug. if u fowl out a plug some time they will not fire under compression.2 strokes need. fuel, fire and air, very simple engines.it is possible crank seal are bad .that doesn't allow the engine to create vacuum in the crank case.thus fuel and air will not make it to combustion chamber.

Lawn mower will not stay cranked unless you keep pouring gas into

common problems to all older lawnmower, lots of dirt and dust the mower goes through and ages. I would first start by taking the carb apart and clean the filter with soap and water, allow it to air dry. also carburetor prob need rebuilding or replacing. Pick up some Carburetor cleaner at any auto part store and spay it down the carb, dont be afraid to spray allot in there and let it dry for 1/2 and hours. carb tend wear and parts need replacing just like any engines. 99% of the time lawn mower carb goes out before the engine will and common problems with all lawn mower. If you not mechanical incline or dont want to rebuilt it, just buy the whole new carb and replace it, fairly cheap easy to replace and will last you another 10 + years or more. www.briggsandstratton.com

Idles normal with hand over carb and gets to much air with hand off

You have a major air leak on the carb intake, cylinder, head or seals. Tighten down the head to start with. Tighten down the carb and the manifold it is bolted to. If that doesn't fix it, as old as the bike is, I would find a gasket set with crank seals and then replace the crank seals. When replacing seals tighten the center case screws. Then I would move on to replace intake manifold gaskets and head/ cylinder gaskets.

Check the crank bearings. Hold the flywheel in your hand. Lift it up and down then move it left and right. Any movement or is it rock solid? If movement then you will need to take the engine apart and install new crank bearings.

While you are checking things, pull the cylinder head and de-carbon the head and cylinder. Run the piston down and check the exhaust port. Over the years carbon may have built up in the port and plugged it nearly closed. It should be about the size of the intake port. Remove the buildup to allow the engine to breathe.

Key is stuck in ignition.... not all the way in.... won't turn over ..... won't come out....what do you suggest....

i had the same problem on my car, but i drive a honda. Try pushing the key in, and turn it at the same time towards u. I did this once, and it worked.. after the key got stuck again a couple of days later. This second time i had to get the whole thing out (ignition switch). Took it apart, and changed the combination on the key. When this happens once, its most likely to happen again
