Burned DVD's I am able to burn DVD's successfully, but when I play them on a DVD player (and I have tried multiple modles) my burned movies tend to have a strange "chirping" or "high pitched" noise when ever the aduio kicks in. I am using generic DVD+R discs, and have tried recording at the lowest speed possible. Any idea what could be causeing this?

I am using XP I can burn DVD successfully but that burned DVD can't be played, but the dvd writer plays other dvd's, and burns and plays CD's without any problem.

If you are using windows to burn the a dvd movie, then it won't be able to be play because normaly windows would only burn files as a ISO file. You will need burning program like Nero to burn your dvd, it will allow you to make a workable dvd that you can play on dvd players and other dvd device.

CDS BURN BUT CANNOT PLAY WHY?

You mean, you burn the CD in your PC but you can't play it in external CD player ?
Maybe you didn't burned it in "movie" mode, just burned in "data" mode. As you know, CD player can't play .avi or .mkv or other video formats. They only can play movie in .DAT format, and when you burn in "make a movie" mode, the burner will convert your movie to this format so you can re-open your movie via CD player.
Or there is an error during the burning time, if this happen then you have to re-burn your movie into another CD.

Hope this help and be kind to rate this answer.

Many of my burned DVDs tend to freeze while watching! After about 20 minutes into the movie the freezing begins...ONLY ON BURNED DVDs +r or -R !

It is not the system it is the dvds. If they are burned or have been burned that means you have to get new dvds.........

D VD

The problem you are having is the DVD player. Not all DVD players will play a burned DVD. Some set top DVD players are know for being very picky about what type of DVD's they will play, and Phillips is very bad about this.

If you have the owners manual for the DVD player, look inside and see what type of disc's are playable. if it should play them DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R. DVD+RW should all be listed.

Right now about 80% of DVD players do not play burned DVD's

In time they all will play them, but for some unknownn reason, some are still made without this ability.

Also, not all DVD-R's are created equal.

The best quality of DVD's to buy for burning are Taiyo Yuden. But Sony, memorex, and Maxell are also pretty good.

One way to be certain about the quality of the burned DVD's is to take one to a friends house or anybody you know who has a set top DVD player and see if it plays in their DVD player.

That will at least tell you if the DVD's you are burning are at fault or not. But my guess is that you r Phillips is the culprit here.

I hope this was helpful to you, if so a good rating would really be appreciated.

I have been buring DVD's since they started selling them for the PC. compatibility has been the only problem I have had.
My sony DVD player plays everything I throw at it.

Dvd burner problems

I dont understand your question. If you mean burnt dvd's dont play on your dvd player, Check your region code and ensure your burn was region free or region specific to your region.
ensure you used the proper format, PAL or NTSC
and enusre you copied the DVD and didnt drag and drop the files as a data disc.

if you are burning a movie from a avi or mpg file you might need to encode it to dvd format..

i didnt understand your question so if i didnt assume correct please repost it thanks :)

Won't playback copied dvd's, only commercially made ones.

Read here and we can see that other people have both trouble and success running back ups on this device: http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/anyone-experienced-with-b-u-s-playing-on-a-sony-dvp-s7000-t283487.html So... That tells us this device is finicky IE it requires a high quality burn. DVD burners have varying levels of accuracy. To improve your burn: -SLOW the burn speed for increased accuracy -USE DVD-R only as it is the most compatible -Use those Sony's DVD-r's at wal-mart or KMART because Sony makes DVR's and everyone else buys them from generic Taiwan manufacturer and relabel I bet this will solve your problem. After you get a successful burn at 2x try 4x then 6 etc.
