Try this: Hold the power buuton down, you will see on the lower screen the word "Pre Booting - ". Keep holding the power button for about 60 second, then you will see on the lower screen "Booting".
This time, release power button; system will reboot and loading map... again.
I got the same problem, after research on the web. Nick 99990_0 had post this solution on (his Nuvi 660) but it work for my Nuvi 350 too. Good luck.

If you have a nuvi 350 download the software to your computer and then load the software onto a formatted sd card. Insert the sd card and bootup the Nuvi 350. The sofware will then load onto the Nuvi 350. If you have a Nuvi 200 I would think it works the same but I have not tried it.
Hope this helps

Check your cable.
I had to switch to device to pc cable from the garmin original cable to a pc cable that works with my motorola razor. The funny thing is I originally tried the motorola cable and it wouldn't work, brought the garmin cable and now it doesn't work but the motorola cable does.
Now my pc finds the device and I can go on to the garmin site and update.

After installing WebUpdater once from the Garmin
website, perform all future software updates from your computer. Simply connect
your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your
computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start",
"Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"
REMEMBER: It takes hours to
do a complete a map update.
Unless you bought the Lifetime maps you may have to pay for current maps.
