Sharp tv changing channels

Our tv changes from the channel its on to the input channel by itself. Sometimes just keeps switching back and forth or just stays on input 2. What is the problem? the tv is about 4 yrs old. Anyone else experience this problem? What will we need to do to fix this? or, is the tv shot??

I have the same problem... I am exploring three options:
    1. I have a tivo - maybe there is some interference there
    2. I have audio video cables coming out of the back of the TV that are not connected to a device. I am going to try disconeecting them
    3. something in my house might be sending a signal to the remote port to switch the input (but I seriously doubt this).
Does any one else have similar circumstances?

Same situation, doesn't happen all the time. Maybe at midnight, 6am, all different times and may not happen for a week. At first I thought someone had a similar remote nearby. Have any of you got a response to this or got any word from sharp?

I put the plugs into the Input 2 for my SNES and it works now. That seems to be the solution. The TV also made a faint clicking sound.

Well, the only thing that seems to be working so far is to plug AV cables into the "input 2" ports (on the front of TV). I plugged in my PS2, without turning it on. It has not switched at random since (about 30 minutes - it had been switching off and on for the past 2 hours). Anyone else have similar success?

Why am I not able to change channel on Sharp Aquos television?

Try changing channels with the button on the TV to make sure the remote is not bad. Sometimes one or just a few buttons on the remote will quit functioning. It is usually the ones that are used the most. What channel is the TV on? If it is 3 or 4 or one of the aux inputs; it may have been told to stay that way because the channels were changed by a cable box. Go to set up and scan channels into memory. After it has started, do not stop it until it says on the screen that is finished. If you stoop it before it has completed the scan, the TV will keep its original program. (one channel)

TV intermittently loses and regains audio/video from only a couple TV channels

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

How do we scan/program in local tv channels. We bought an external antenna, but get no picture. Typically, there is a protocol for scanning channels into the set. Model is Sansui TVS2746B, and the set was...

Okay, does this tv have a built in DIGITAL tuner? Most tv's only have an analog tuner. You can tell the difference while you are changing the channels. If the channel indicates 2.1 or 2.2 and so forth, it is on a digital channel mode. If you change the channel and it indicated 2, 3, 4, etc. it is analog. If it has digital capability change the input until you see 2.1, 3.4 etc. If you cycle through all the inputs on the tv like, input 1 (TV) input 2(DVD) input 3(HDMI) and so forth and you never see the digital channel you most likely do not have a digital tuner. You will need to purchase a digital converter which will convert it to analog and you can watch it by placing you tv on analog channel 3 just like the old vcr's. Hope this helps and please don't forget to rate this solution.

Sharp LC-42D43U troubleshooting with the maximum volume sound

Found this on another site and it worked, had to switch back and forth a few times but it worked........

I have a Sharp LC-46D43U LCD TV. I think this is a entry level for large lcd tv's. With the volume all the way up at 60, my wife and I could barley hear the tv. I was playing around in the menu and some how have the volume at almost twice the volume. What I did was:
Go into the menu
Go to option
Go to output select
and change from fixed to variable and back to fixed. You may have to do this a few times.
Sometimes the volume goes loud after 1 try and sometimes it may take 10 or 20 tries.
But if I change any settings, even the channel sometimes the sound goes back down to where it was.
Has anyone done this, did it work for you. I don't know very much about electronics and I have now ideal why this happens.
I wonder if this is just something with my tv.
