SOURCE: File/Folder Permission Message in Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus

Hello welcome to FIxya!

Here you can check this procedure on how to open your files again.

"1) Check your Recycle Bin
2) Do a Folder/File Search for each of the Grey Folder Project names. This will display all Folders & Files with that Project Name. You are looking for an .stx File. If it's there, right-Click on Project Name / Open Containing Folder & Copy it to your My Projects Folder. Then you should have both the Grey Folder & .stx File for the same Project name, showing in your My Projects Folder.
If the Search doesn't display a .stx File, you can create a new one, by Opening a New empty Project, which will create a My Movie Grey Folder & a My Movie .stx File, Save to your My Projects Folder. Delete the My Movie Grey Folder & Rename the My Movie .stx File to the same name as your original Grey Folder."
So ...after finding my "lost" movie file, with its file name, under Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects i then went through the following procedures using your great advice Colour;

  1. Make a copy of your found "lost" movie grey film icon file by right mouse clicking on your lost file and choosing "copy". Paste the copy into another folder in Documents where you can find it if need be
  2. Then go back to Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects and right mouse click onto your grey film icon. Choose "rename". Then rename your "lost" grey film icon to a new file name but do not put .stc at the end of the file name, if you are operating VISTA and Pinnacle 12. This is important because Pinnacle 12 won't recognise the file later if you have .stc in the file name
  3. Open Pinnacle and go to the File Menu
  4. Click on New Project
  5. Open File Menu again and click on Save File as
  6. Give the file a name such as "Movie 7" and save it
  7. Close out of Pinnacle
  8. Open up Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects and observe that you now have 2 new files there ...a grey film icon file saying Movie 7 AND a coloured Pinnacle icon file saying Movie 7
  9. Delete the grey icon file with the file name Movie 7
  10. Now give your coloured Pinnacle icon file the exact same rename as your precious "lost" renamed grey movie icon file, using the right mouse click on rename proceedure as explained in No.2 above.
  11. Close out of Documents file
  12. Now open up Pinnacle again
  13. Go to Menu and choose Open Project
  14. There you will see the coloured Pinnacle icon file with the new name of your "lost" movie file.
  15. Click onto its coloured Pinnacle icon, and watch your "lost" movie come into view again

Pinnacle Systems movie box USB users manual. How can I get one?

I think you have to install the "Pinnacle Studio" Video Editing Software BEFORE you attach the USB Cable to the Pinnacle MovieBox. After the Studio software is installed on your PC, your PC should automatically recognize the MovieBox. You shouldn't really need a Manual for the MovieBox, it should just be a "Plug and Play" device once you install Studio. The MovieBox just translates the Analog Video signal (like the Output from a VCR- the yellow red and white cables) to a Digital signal into your PC via a USB Input. At that point on the Studio software, the "Capture" tab should recognize the signal from your "Source" (VCR, Videocamera, etc.) Then you can edit your captured video. If your PC still doesn't "see" the Moviebox, there is a dropdown box in the "Capture" settings with selections for "Capture Device". It may have a couple of choices besides "Pinnacle MovieBox" such as a "webcam" or some other video capture device. Just select the "Moviebox". The one other problem you may encounter is that some older versions of "Pinnacle Studio" don't work on Windows 10. If so, your only easy option may be to try it on an old Windows XP machine. I like the older versions of "Studio" more than the newer versions, so I still use an old off-line XP computer. Hope that works.

How to convert MVI to AVI file for edit in Pinnacle Studio?

Some Canon digital still cameras (Powershot A75, A63, S410 etc), are capable of shooting a limited amount of video, since there is no tape, it is saved as an MVI file format. However, the MVI file format is not compatible with other programs. Even windows media player refuse to play MVI file. Besides, editing software like Pinnacle Studio and Windows movie maker do not work with the format. Because of this, the files need to be converted to a format that is more widely used, such as AVI so that these videos shot with still camera can be played and edited as easily as other common videos. This guide is to tell how to do that.
Software you'll Need: Pavtube Video Converter

Step 1. Download Pavtube Video Converter, and follow the prompts to install the program. Click "Finish" when the installation is complete, and Pavtube Video Converter will launch automatically.

Step 2. Click “Add” to load MVI files or directly drag the files into file list. By default, the files are selected. If you would like to join all the selected files together, check the box of Merge into one. You could view the files in preview window, simply highlight the file and click play button.

Step 3. Click “Format” bar to determine output format. Follow Common Video-> AVI Video (*.avi)/ DivX AVI(*.avi). Click “Settings” if you’d like to customize advanced audio and video parameters like Video Codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, Audio codec, sampling rate, bit rate, channels. Do not forget to click “OK” to confirm your settings. Then type in a desired output location in the "Output" box.
Step 4. Click "Convert” to start converting MVI files to AVI. You could set auto shutdown in progress window or leave it there and come back later. After conversion you could edit the converted video in Pinnacle Studio, and make a film out of it or burn it onto DVD.

In the middle of editing a video clip using, Pinnacle Studio 12, I lost my Audio completely. No play back of background music or voice over. How can diagnose my "Master Volume Realtek High Definition"...

Ok, well first reboot your PC, and see if this brings back your sound. This is a common event when editing video, or processor intensive tasks. Sometimes it can "Crash" and muck, the drivers up. Now if you reboot, and find that you still don't have Audio, Then you need to reinstall your Realtek Audio manager and driver. If you do not have this go to link below

install as Administrator.

I am running pinnacle Studio Plus 11 on vista and when i watch videos in mts format in the preview window the video skips however the audio is fine. I dont know if its a video processor problem on my end...

Just to clarify where did the video come from?

Please tell me the name of your camcorder and the model of it.

Also try to do this. Try to use the sample video then try to play it back if you will get the same result. If the sample video plays fine the problem will be in the video that your using probably the resolution of that video is to high.
