"Hard to turn on"

This sounds like a very common issue.

If set is hard to turn on (takes several tries)but will eventually turn on here is what my guess would be.

Every set has a standby power supply that is running 7/24 if the set is plugged in and it supplies voltage to the remote circuit that turn on the main power supply for the tv and hence turn the set on.

This is an area where companies cut corners by using lower rated voltage caps. By this I mean Standby usually provides under 10 volts to trigger the set on----what they do is use filter caps rated at say 10 volts max in a circuit with 9 volts (example)=with the standby on all the time the filter caps (electrolytic caps) dry out and fail.

The problem usually begins where you have to turn set on or or two times and gradually gets worse--takes longer and more tries to get it to come up.

Once on it will stay on until turned off for a period of time.

The caps will begin to work better (regain some of the capacitance) as they get hot--hence one it is on it will seem ok.

The beauty of this problem is most of them happen when set is a year or two old (no warranty) and all you have to do is look at the top to locate bad ones.

They are generally black or blue and round and vary in size--they have two connections each--a + for positive and a - for negative--not unlike a battery which in a way they are. The + and - are marked on top and bottom of most boards.

They are easy to replace and not expensive parts.

The tops are silver and metal looking with creases on top and if bad they will be puffed up on top---tops must be perfectly flat with no brown material leaking top or bottom.

If this is your problem once you id them (make a drawing) you can begin.

Here is the critical part---on each cap is also marked the value like 220uf 10 vdc---220 micro farad at 10 volts maximum.

If you find for example 6 puffed up and all are 10 vdc replace them with the same value capacitance (like the 220 uf) but go up to at least in this case (from 10 volts) to a 16 or higher rated voltage cap.

The only issue is when you go up in voltage rated value the cap is larger so sometimes there is an issue of physical space for the replacement on the board to fit them in.

The reason they cheapen these sets in this way is if 10 caps and you make 25,000 sets there is a considerable savings in parts cost.

They do not care as long as it lasts past the usual one year parts warranty.

I have taken the time to be long winded because this really sounds like it may be the problem you have.

See attached photo of a typical cap and if you have questions or need advice let me know.

If Your screen shows a: white vertical line on a black screen or, a white horizontal line on a black screen:
Your TV vertical or, horizontal power transistor or, chip is getting too hot.
A vertical line indicates the horizontal circuit is at fault, a horizontal line indicates the vertical circuit is at fault.
To troubleshoot: Turn on your TV untill the line shows then: after about a minute, remove power (unplug) the TV, remove the TV back cover, carefully using your finger find the too hot transistor or, chip; or, use component coolant; spray the too hot component with a component cooler repower the TV, until the screen comes back to normal. To fix: apply white sylicone coolant cream to the back of the too hot transistor or, chip. or, if there is room, a small fan can be wired in to cool the part. Radioshack sells the cream and, also a "component cooler spray" that should find and, fix this problem, also; with power removed you can, if you feel it is safe; carefully (with only one hand) feel the part; it will be very hot! (it could burn your finger!) Do not touch anything else! (this will not hurt the tv; when the picture comes back on (the offending part has cooled) you have found the problem part.

I just purchased a refurbished ECO126 and it doesn't work, standby light comes on, no other lights and no hot water! How do I return it? I bought at Amazon!

well im not quite sure why u posted a question about a hot water heater here in the flat panel tv forum ?? but if it doesn't work and it was sold as new from amazon its easy to return it to them just go to there site and see return item in your user section (item selected) if wasn't sold as new but used then things get a little difficult youll have to see if that vendor even allows for returns (not all do)

My moms tv started going by having 120v coming out of the rca jack and flowing into the home coax system and out to the pole. After that we turn on the tv and it just blinked. Im not sure what is going...

I just got into the same problem with my tv: 120V coming out on the coaxial cable. After some troubleshooting I found that the power outlet is wired wrong: the black wire is the neutral instead of the white one and the white wire is the "hot" wire.
It is easy to check it if you have a voltmeter: between ground and the small outlet hole should be 110V and between ground and the bigger hole should be none (with an analog meter) or close to none (with a digital meter).

I have an F32650 and it wont turn on and also no sound. I also hear this clicking type sound coming from the rear of the TV.It sounds like it's coming from the right right rrrear of the TV.

Sounds like a probable shorted Horizontal Output Transistor (hot) Hopefully thats all. Sometimes the flyback will fail as well. If your not familiar with electronics I would recommend a tv shop repair. If its just the HOT transistor average repairs are 75-110 depending on your location.

My subwoofer keeps cutting out and comes back in almost like when it gets hot it will cut out and when it cools it will come back on. Whats wrong with it?

You have a heat sensitive semi-conductor! These are easy to find. But you need a soldering iron and some Servisol Freezer spray. With the thing powered up and working, wait while it acts up! Then spray the suspect part with freezer spray (one at a time). It will be only a transistor or IC, so don't bother spraying other parts. If it goes normal after the spray it's faulty! To confirm touch one of the metal parts of it with an hot iron, it should act up!

Help with TV

What model number is your set? Can you upload a pic of what your screen is doing? It sounds like you Convergence amps are faulty which is a common problem with all projections as they run hot. Its a fairly cheap fix under 20.00 if you can solder you should be able to handle it easy enough.

Not sound or picture from the TV

If it has been over 2 years on this bulb, I would start there cause it will need one soon anyway.
Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. However, this is one of the model that Sony has class action lawsuits against them on because it has so many problems with the light engine. See this:
