My Platinum brewer has begun brewing on its own. I have seen it spontaneously start brewing half a dozen times, who knows how many times when I'm not home. If the cover is left open water shoots out of the brewer, needless to say we keep the cover shut. Any idea how to fix this or what the problem is? Thank you.

If the brewer heats the water but it doen not dispense this is probably because air is trapped in the tubing of the water system.
To solve, use as air compresser with minimum pressure (20-25 psi) and force air through the system using an air nozzle that is long enough to reach into the hole into the area where you fill the water. Place your hand under the dispenser and ensure you can feel the air from the compressor coming through.
Once you clean out the lines, you should be good to go.
We have had our coffee maker sitting on our shelf "broken" for months now. We tried this last ditch effort before tossing the machine in the trash and low and behold it worked! :)

If your brewer is not brewing the full amount selected, it may be caused by the following:
?· The exit needle is clogged by coffee grounds or cocoa mix. Please refer to the K-Cup Holder cleaning instructions.
?· The brewer may need to be de-scaled. Please refer to the de-scaling instructions.
?· The removable water reservoir was removed during brewing. Place the water reservoir back onto the brewer and perform a cleansing brew without a K-Cup.
First try to make a descale maybe repeat it the next day.

I do use filtered water and we descale the machine very three months. I did call Keurig, they told me there was nothing that could be done and that it was unfixable. They advised me to stop using it and buy a new one.
I've also tried cleaning all parts I could see.
