Our Samsung fridge is not the exact same model as this , its a (RS2544SL) but exactly the same thing happened last nite .I left the door ajar and everything melted now the freezer does not work.Ive tried to make it work and have called Samsung(thats another story)This is not the first time this has happened with this fridge , the freezer stopped working in the first 2 months of ownership and before a service guy could come around (2 days ) it started working again. This time no luck so far ...the fridge is now 2 years old and not covered by full warranty! Any ideas?
Solomonau, it's hard to tell without being there exactly what is going on. I do know however, that in April of 2005 Samsung came out with a bullitin regarding the cap tube. It states that it has been inserted into the dryer incorrectly and can cause no cool situations. This is part of the sealed system which should be covered for 5 years. What you are describing sounds like a partial restriction, which could be taking place in that dryer and cap tube. If you were to post your model number, I would be able to tell if yours was included in this bullitin. You can then contact Samsung and inquire about this service bullitin, Catriver..post back.

Thanks Catriver
I assume by dryer that you mean the evaporator? unless we are talking about a totally different appliance. My exact model is as stated in my original problem is a RS2544SL u.s.a side by side.Well guess what !!! it started working again yesterday about 24 hours after it stopped. I have done some other research on this unit and some think that it may be a circuit board problem , however I find your answer interesting and it also explains the intermintancy of the problem. The short and finally rude answer from Samsung was to refer me to Maytag repair ($140 call out fee) to find out wether it will be covered by the 5 year sealed unit warranty....this ignores the fact we have lost $300 worth of food ..twice!Please let me know if you have any more info on this problem and thanks again for your help.Apparently im not the only one that has had problems like this , with an otherwise good fridge.
We have the same rpoblem with model RS267LA. We should not import freezer from Samsung
The freezer is still working fine so we left the fridge over the weekend and tried it again last night and it worked briefly then stopped again. Is this something I can fix easily myself as I don't wish to waste a large amount of money on unnecessary call out fees.
