What type of disks does the Sanyo DVW-5000 play?

I have a dvd-rw with an .avi movie file I am trying to play on my Sanyo DVW-5000 and it tells me that there is an disk error when it tries to load the disk. What type of disk/file types does this dvd player play? I want to be able to play the dvd that I made and I am not seeming to be able to.

Please help!

Thank you.

SOURCE: How Do I hook up my Sanyo DVW -7000 To my Dishnetwork Box to record?

Connect the "Out to TV"video and audio on the DVR box to the "Video in and Audio In" on the VCR ...unless it's a single screw type connector on the DVR then hook THAT to the "In from ANT/cable" on the VCR

Cable users: If you have Cable TV and used Cable Box in Connecting Antenna/Cable TV to DVD/VCR using a cable box converter, you must set the channel in this step to match the cable box output channel (usually 3 or 4). Change channels on the cable box instead of the DVD/VCR

Sorry for the inconvenience you encounter,, But for your concern since you encounter a power surge sometimes some electronic/electric device like might git damage because of the power flactuation, probably some of its IC,s got burn if you want you take it to a repair center and hopefully they will just replace the burn IC's ..

Hope that helps......

My VCR plays great but the DVD won't load the disk. I have changed disk types and manufacturers. Nothing has helped. Do I have to connect the AVI cables for the DVD to work?

the reason is because your dvd player inside got caught on something in side and now won't work for your disc it might even be off track...

LG RH188H - what movie file types does it play?

Hi,
AVI are a certain type of movie file.
Your problem is most likely that you do not, have the correct software ( program ) installed on your computer to view these files, yet i believe do play on a normal DVD Player.
you could try Windows Media player, this may work for you. also power DVD or Similar. although there are newer programs out there. as for the conversion, this is a long winded process in itself. To convert AVI To MPEG ( standard DVD Format ) you need unpacking tools and software, And a relatively high spec PC, Lots Of Memory.
Hope this guides you.

Sansui VRDVD4000 format

I do not believe this player plays AVI videos, not to mention whatever codec you are trying to use.

Download VSO ConvertXtoDVD and convert your AVI files to DVD and then burn them to DVD-R (NOT DVD+R), the 4.7GB discs (single-layer).

This process takes a very long time, depending on the size of the movies you are converting, some 1-2 hours, some 8-24 hours.

I suggest buying a Philips DVD Player that plays DivX and XviD AVI files, they seem to be the best. You can just burn the AVI to any disc and it will play. [Most popular seems to be Philips DVP 642]

Cheers.
