I just bought a used dell inspiron 530s and the hard drive is bad in it. So I wanted to go into the bios and when I did it is asking me for a password. Can anyone help me reset or remove the password on this computer? Thank you guru's!!
Try this:
1- shut it down then open the computer box
2- find a green or blue jumper beside the memory slot or Data cable slots
3- remove jumper , then turn computer on
wait for 10 sec then shut it down
4- put the jumper back and close the computer box
5- turn the pc on and have fun
Testimonial: "That probably would have worked as well. I ended up removing power cord, then moving jumpers (there were two CMOS jumpers) and putting them one prong over. Then removed the CMOS battery on the motherboard and then held the power button to make sure there was no power left in the tower. Let it sit for a couple hours and put everything back the way it was. Whala the BIOS password was gone! Thank you for the suggestion!"
