When opening the cartridge door there a a plastic projection on the upper right section of lifted door. This projection is designed to **** a indicator switch thru a hole in the lower section of the door. I replaced a blown capacitor and it may have dislodge a piece of this switch... need a pic of this switch and maybe a part #.. when depressed this switch which is like a horizontal leaf is supposed to bend to switch on the circuit board .. Doesn't seem to make contact ( Part Missing )
I was getting the same error from my HP all-in-one printer, and since I like to take things apart and fix them, I took this printer apart. Let me tell you what I found. It took forever to get down to the part where the sensor is for the cartridge door. They made it this way on purpose, it seems clear once you find out what is inside this little box. Instead of only one object that gets pushed out of the way when the door is closed, there are two objects inside the sensor. The first object, as mentioned before, is pushed by the door closing to the point where the sensor can no longer sense it, telling the printer that the door is closed. But the second object is not connected to anything except its hinge, and swings freely, so that if you ever turn the printer upside down, there is a 50-50 chance that you will end up with this object permanently telling the sensor that the door is open. Unless you know to turn it back upside down again in such a way that it moves the object back to the other side, out of range of the sensor. Most people would figure it is permanently broken and get another one. Now you know better. If you play with it enough I bet you can get yours to swing back out of the way, and let the printer know that the cartridge door is closed. I will never buy another HP printer.
