I have a panasonic dvr.. had the same problem. you can't go through the cable box to the dvr, you have to put in a splitter and have the cable feed it directly.

Its not going to work unless it is authorized by the cable company, and has the correct software.

  • Anonymous Oct 19, 2008

Give the cable company the serial number and preform this reset.
This all depends on if they will let you use your own cable box.

    Step 1

    Unplug Power Cord from STB.

    Step 2

on the STB, Press & Hold {Power & Menu} Keys while plugging the Power Cord back into the STB.

The Display should now say (BOOT)

    Step 3

Let Go of the {Power & Menu} Keys and press the up or down arrow keys till you see (n DL) on the Display.

    Step 4

Push the {Select} Key To begin Downloading STB Firmware & Account Settings from your Cable Head End. Could take up to 20 min to download.

After it completes this Download the STB will Reset and then begin to download the Time setting info for the STB Clock & begin to populate the IGuide info. Keep your STB on Standby/Off to speed up the IGuide info download.
Could take up to 24 Hours to fill in all 2 weeks of IGuide info.

I have a Philips DVDR 3575H. using Comcast's

Try this set up-

Use an RCA audio/video cable for this set up (Yellow/Red/White).

Connect from the Video out (Yellow) connection on the back of the cable box to the Video in on the back of the DVR.

Connect the audio (Red/White) cables from audio out connection on the back of the cable box to the "Audio in" on the back of the DVR.

This should still get you a decent picture but not a true HD picture for your recordings.

When you set the timer to record set it to record either E1 or E2 depending on which input you connected the cable box to and ensure that the cable box is tuned to the channel you wish to record.

*** NOTE: If you keep the HDMI cable connected as you have for the cable box and watch normal TV through the HDMI input on the TV you will get HD programming for your general viewing but still have the option to record with the DVR at a lower quality. ***

Good Luck and please rate this solution....

Hdtv picture freeze

I also have a Brand new Sony Bravia 52" LCD with Comcast Cable (motorola box). When switching between HD Channels sometimes the left side of the screen shows a smushed version of the new channel, and the right side is a frozen picture of the previous channel. I correct this by switching to a non HD channel and back. Cable or TV problem I wonder?

Phillips HTS3566D Home Theater/Comcast DVR 3 Device remote

I have the same problem. The only time that I can get it to work is whenever I turn on the cable box the home theater system turns on too. When I use the DVR it will turn it on too and want to play the CD/DVD. I have a Comcast Motorola DCH3416 DVR box.

Programming the Acquos Remote

There is a code out there to try.  The code would be 47.  Just follow the steps in your manual on how to program this box and you should be able to go from there. Can't garantee that it will work as that code came out with the newer tv but it should work.

Here's how to fix it:
Turn the cable box off, leave fully connected. Press Menu on the remote
The cable box internal menu will display (Not the Comcast one the Motorola one-- i.e. Display ratios-16:9 etc It's in black and white)
Use the arrows to cursor to the Closed Captioning and toggle to "Disabled" Press Manu again to exit and Voila!

Power the box on an have at it

Probably need a software upgrade. Contact Sony for that information. This would be a common fix in most sistuations when using HDMI.
