I got a new timer for my 13 year old w600 front loader. I got a #8064199 to replace the old #8061758.

The note that came with the new timer says "Note! Do not forget to check the jumpers" and it also has a table and that says "Jumpers X=CUT" and the table has at least one X in each column. The new timer has a "JD" but the old timer had a space there. What do they mean by "check the jumpers"?

SOURCE: jumpers

You can only have TWO (2) Devices in IDE - Master and Slave.

For example
Cable 1 (ide channel 1)
Master - HDD
Slave - Tape Drive

Cable 2(ide channel 2)
Master - CD/DVD drive
Slave - HDD

Do you have a diffrent type of cable?

Visit http://www.compaq.com and select the product then download the user's manual. Such informations are usually given in the users mnual. Although Compaq is presently owned by HP, but user support is still there. ([email protected])

SOURCE: Asko clothes washer front loader

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Possibly blocked filter.
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
John C

Machine will not drain or spin

I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. Therefore the washer ID doesn't mean
anything to me. It looks as though we are talking about a front loader. It's been about 55 years since I had experience with front load washers. However I can refer you to Applianceaid.com where they have very good and complete trouble shooting and repair information on front loaders. I think you'll find what you need there. Don't worry about the timer, they hardly ever go bad. Good luck with it. If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.

Machine wont stop filling with water, it just overflows. Machine is an Asko w6551 front loader

Same thing happened to my ASKO W600.  Sounds like the water inlet valve is blocked or broken so therefore can't stop the flow of water coming into machine.  Check it out and replace if necessary.

Welcome

My advice now a days is :

It's really not advisable to fix a dishwasher that old.
It's putting good money into bad!

Here is an article I just read that you may find interesting.

Repair or replace?
When to pull the plug on your dishwasher

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems in the owner's manual and on the Web sites of many manufacturers.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model? The answer depends mostly on the age of your dishwasher, how much you bought it for, and the cost of the repair. Follow these guidelines from our in-house experts:

When a repair makes sense. If your dishwasher is under warranty or less than four years old , paying for a repair makes sense. Note that dishwasher under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician; readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice. If your dishwasher is out of warranty and is four to seven years old, it might make sense to pay for a repair. Readers paid $100 to $200 for a repair. But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage, given that today's models are quieter and have added features. They pay for them selves in only a few years due to higher energy efficiency which is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008, are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace. The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new dishwasher. Our data also show that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive dishwasher six or more years old .
Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent of a dishwasher you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.

Dear grahamconnor,
ngfam1 here for you!
I am happy to be of assistance!
If the machine is 10 years old or more buy a new one!!
Look at speed Queen washers1 They are commercial and have the best warranty in the industry!
use the least water and wash 8 loads a week for 25 years or more! They start at about $549 for the top loader and 1299 for the front loader, BUT the front loader uses ONLY 13.9 GALLONS OF WATER!
The last washer i will buy! And everyone working in my applaince store has one!

If you decide on service!
Here is a good service that I recommend to my customers,
in our 65 year old appliance business!
