T.V. remote sensor not working

My T.V. DOES NOT respond to the remote. It's not the remote as i've tested it on my other T.V. and it works fine. The T.V. is one year old. Could the remote sensor on the T.V. be bad?

Hello
If you are sure that the fault is with the remote sensor of your TV, replace it with a new one. The remote sensor can be located just behind the remote sensor window at the front panel of the TV. You nave to open the TV to access it. It is a three solder terminal component. It will look somewhat like this, having brownish black in colour. This component can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shopw at your town; very cheap to buy too. OK

Hello,

If new batteries did not fix the problem, then it means the problem is either from the remote or the TV.

You need to do some diagnosis to confirm the source of the problem.

Remote: Check the remote battery terminal, see if its not rust. Also, disassemble the remote, can check the connection between the terminal and the remote board, see if there is no disconnection of any kind.

If after checking and all seems well, then it means the remote is defective. To confirm, borrow a remote, test it with the TV. If it works, then it means you need to replace your remote. But if the remote you borrowed does not work, then it means the problem is from the TV and not the remote.

TV: There is a sensor in the TV that communicates with the remote. If this sensor is defective, the remote won't communicate with the TV.

The TV sensor might have loosed contact from inside of the TV or it maybe defective and need to be replaced.

So do the above troubleshooting and let me know if the problem is from the TV or remote. If problem is from the remote, you need to do a replacement. But if otherwise, let me knows as well.

Regards.

Vcr not responding to remote

If hooked up right the play button should work, if on wrong channel and no switch on rear to select 3 or 4 it might be the remote.

The remote can itself be tested--all shops have a tester--point remote at it and press any button and tester will react or not.

Many digital cameras can also be used in the same way in a VERY dark room. Point remote at the powered up camera and look for a tiny flash on the camera display itself when pointed at the camera and buttons pressed.

Test the remote first.

I would suggest you check the batteries of the remote. If you have replaced them it is possible that the microswitch on the remote might have worn out. Should be a quickfix at a locksmith that has the equipment to test remotes frequency. Good luck

How to replace ir sensor on samsung dlp?

Visit this site for more details. Type in the site name "Electro-help" either to Google or Yahoo search box [not in the address bar of your browser], and click search. It is an electronic equipments service help site. All details you want are there. Note the position of hyphen in between words in site name, when you type it in. The site will appear as it is in web; subtitled as electronics equipments' repair help.
Replacing an infrared sensor have been described here in detail. If you want more details than given, just download the service manual to your DLP tV from net. Actually there will be no need for ***. you will get a sound idea about how to repalce it from this site.

Menu button stopped responding

If only one button does not work at all or all do not work the unit may have a lock out feature that would be explained in the owners manual.

My remote won't work and I used to be able to change the channel on the TV but even that dosn't work. I checked the cords. Changed the batteries;

Hello
First check its battery contacts for any rust or dirt accumulated on it. If so, contacts of battery will not touch properly, and the unit will fail to work. The second reason for malfunction is due to the infrared sensor inside your tV. If it is faulty, the set won't respond to infrared signal generated by the remote control. If so, eventhough remote control works properly, the set won't work with it.
Remote sensor comes just behind the infrared window at the bottom front panel of your TV. It is a replacable part and not so costly too. It is a three terninal component will look brownish black in colour. It will looke like this.

gopakumarg43_77.jpgThe procedure to check the remote control for its perfect working is described at a tip I've given and published by Fixya on Google. Type "gopakumarg43" on google search box, and get into my profiles. There you can see 'Tips and How To's" line, click on it. You can read it there. OK.

IR sensors do not light up on any electronic devices. And they do not fail that easily unless tampered with.
In all probability it still must be a remote problem. Try this test.
If you have an AM / FM portable radio switch it on to AM between 600 and 800Mhz. Turn up the volume and then hod the remote on top of the radio ( very close ) and press any button on the remote, you should hear a series of blips indicating the remote is working. If not the remote is not working. Try cleaning the spring contacts in the remote, they tend to rust if a battery has leaked in them.

The remote to my RCA DVD Player, Model DRC220N, has stopped working. I've tried new batteries, hitting the DVD button 1st, etc. Nothing works. The player itself still seems to work as the buttons...

You could try a universal remote (if one is available which will provide most functions to your player, such as STOP/PLAY etc.).

You can try a simple test on your existing RCA remote to see if it provides a 'frequency pulse'. Turn a radio on, select a black section of the AM band (not FM) turn volume up halfway, place remote near it, listen for pips and noises from the speaker(s) - if this occurs, the remote itself is OK. This is the cheapest idea to try first before going out and buying a new remote.

* If the unit does not respond to the universal (regardless of whether a remote code is required or not) then the IRD within the unit itself and its associated controller circuit may have failed (hence why the remote does not work). Repair of this requires a qualified workshop technician (because of the many surface-mounted components in the IRD controller circuit). *

But try the original remote-to-AM-radio test and/or purchase a universal remote or similar if necessary.

To make sure the remote works or not. See if it blinks if you shoot the pointy end to a mobile phone in camera mode. If it's working fine there, some other issue. At least you know if it's a battery thing.
