On my TI 30 XA, I can not get it out of Degree mode.

I have replaced the batteries with no success. on/c does not clear deg. I can cycle through Deg, Rad and Grad. Nothing in the manual has been helpful.

Why do you want to get out od Degree mode. If you are doing trigonometric calculations, the angle unit is pertinent. If you are not doing trigonometry, it is irrelevant. You say you can cycle through DEG, RAD, GRAD. That is the way to set the angle unit.
However, there will always be an indicator on the screen (DEG, RAD, or GRAD).

Testimonial: "Thank you. I am not using this unit for any advanced trig. I didn't know if the DEG could be removed. It doesn't seem to matter that it is an indicator. Thank you for the information. "

You do not want any of the three displayed? Well, YOU CANNOT. One of the indicators has to be displayed, to remind you the user that the angle unit is set to degree, radian, or gradian. By Texas Intelligent design.
I know, it is your calculator and you may want it to behave as you will it, but that part of the screen is OFF limits to you. You cannot enter anything directly in it. If you make configuration changes, they are reflected in that inaccessible part of the display. Now, do you still want to get rid of all three?

SOURCE: Problem with Casio FX 260 Calculator

Read the screen capture about the MODES of this calculators. DEG,RAD, and GRAD remind the user that the angle units in trigonometric function calculations and coordinate conversions are in degrees, radians or grads. They have nothing to do with the other calculations you are doing.

You can only remove DEG by changing the angle unit to RADians or GRADs. In so doing, the new unit indicator (RAD, GRAD) will be displayed instead. There is no point worrying about the angle unit indicator unless you are performing coordinate conversions or calculating trigonometric functions or the inverse trigonometric functions.

MODE 9 cancels the FIX display format: decimal are displayed with a fixed number of decimal places (set by the user). After this key sequence the decimal display format reverts to NORM(al).

Press "DEG" button and it will show you the various options possible. Probably you'll see "DEG", "RAD" and "GRAD". The "GRAD" option will be highlighted or underlined. Use arrow keys to move to the "DEG" option. Hit Enter. You're all set. Let me know if it worked.

Using inverse cosign and inverse sin always bring up domain errrors. For example, I used the equation COS -1(185 / -20) . And it always came up with domain error. This is the same equation my teacher gave...

Make sure your calculator is in degree mode.
It is probably in radian mode so it can't calculate the inverse sin.
To change this, go to Mode -> Deg.
Hope this helps, cheers!

Answers to trig functions are incorrect. i.e. tan 30 deg = -6.40 vs 0.54

You're in radians mode. The tangent of 30 radians is about -6.4.

To switch to degrees, press MODE to bring up the mode editor. Use the arrow keys to move down to the third line, highlight Degree, and press ENTER. Press 2ND [QUIT] to exit.

I've tried to get out of the degree setting many times it just shows up on my screen I want it off! How?

Whatever angle mode you're in, the calculator will display that. So, if you switch to radians, the DEG will disappear from the screen but the RAD will show up instead. That's just the way the calculator works.

How do i find the degree sign

Most of the calculators work in a "mode". That is you select either deg, radian, or grad and then just the format controls what is degree, minutes, etc.

One puts the thing in deg mode and then the entries go as the first entered is degree, the next is minutes, and the last as seconds.

It is kind of clumsy in a way as you have to enter all three parts, although some calculators may default zeros to the un-entered parts.
