I have been having this problem with my Braun Thermoscan, too.
I just called the company and described the problem. They are shipping me a free new one even though it was out if warranty. My best advice is to call 1-800-327-7226 and describe your problem. Hopefully you will get the same result as I did. :)

SOURCE: I have a Braun ThermoScan Type6013 have changed

Problem:
Temperature taken is not within typical human temperature range (93.2 °F - 108 °F / 34 °C - 42.2 °C).

Solution:
Make sure new, clean lens filter is properly inserted. Then, take a new temperature.

BRAUN ThermoScan Ear Thermometer HM-3. I changed the batteries, everything comes on, but won't read the temperature. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Question edited for clarity, and spelling 'brain' to Braun, and 'thermoter' to thermometer, 'comes in' to comes on..
Question moved from Cars and Trucks Category.

There are some ideas here, but it sounds faulty and needs warranty return or repair.
