I recommend clearing your system cache. To do this go to My Xbox > System Settings > Memory, highlight your storage disk, press Y and select "clear cache." Try to run the disk again. If the Xbox is still failing to properly read the disk I suggest bringing it to a gaming store near you and have them put a new drive in it. This is most definitely a hardware error, and has nothing to do with your disks.
cd drive error, if its an older xbox thats what it would be, either that or disk read error thing, i would suggest taking it in somewhere and have people look at it. or check the xox 360 games to see if there are any big scratches. that would be a big problem if there r scratches.
its the disk drive xbox will fix for 100 dollars this just happend to me finally i called them and they told me its the disk drive and soon it wont read dvds either
Though i fixed the Disc Read Error myself within anhour but please test the
below method at your OWN Risk. Please alsonote that microsoft is no longer
providing Extended warranty for E74Error.
Check out this DIY Video
Guide, that explains step by step instructions to fix Disc Read Error
yourselfwithin an hour. It also provides the money back guarantee in case youare
not satisfied. As i fixed my Xbox myself so i thought to share itwith you guys.........
Im not sure on the warranty. A year ago i had the 3 lights and microsoft replaced it free of charge. Call them up and ask them because most likely you may have a faulty lens/drive.
this is a possible laser read problem.
Try an official DVD Movie. And also a music CD.
if it reads nothing at all, i,d suggest a laser head cleaner.
Or a replacement DVD Drive.
Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Disc
Read Error. Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights
problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this
problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4
weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can
occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also
be dirty and many more common problem. I would suggest you to first
clean out the disc, you are using. If that don't solve the problem you
can also take the help of DIY guide available at Internet. I think you have got good no. of options to get your Xbox repaired, Choice is yours.
Next to cleaning your CD good, try also getting the laser eye cleaned as well, this might help. Also, if the disk is too scratched up then it will not read it, the scratches might be too deep.
