Uniden cordless ex18560 no dial tone. When i connect my phone it keeps ringing and displays incoming call and when you answer the call nothing happens its blank. when other people try reaching my number the phone rings i get their number displayed on the caller id but when you answer the phone it is blank. Try to make an outgoing call no dial tone its balk. can some one hep me on this please

You MUST get dial tone to talk or listen. Your base may ring but this may be unrelated to the telephone signal.

Check all wires and all settings. Are yoju certain your hand set is a member of your telephone group?

The problem may be a short on your line. (Have the local Teleco check your line.) If you have other phones, you may want to check them for dial tone(DT) when this happens. If you have no DT, your cordless may be the problem...unplug, and let charge overnight. If problem continues, replace the battery in cordless, or discontinue use.

First thing to try is another phone in the wall jack if it doesn't work either you need to call your phone company. If the other phone works, make sure that the telephone is getting power from the AC electrical outlet. Try swapping the telephone cord with another cord. and lastly, unplug the battery from teh handset and plug it back in untill you feel it click into place. Sometimes the new battery connections are pretty tight and may not really be connected even though it looks like it is plugged all the way in.

The problem was the main phone line not the phone itself

I have two older (2002) model cordless Uniden phones that require the handsets to return to their original factory bases. If they have rested on another Uniden base, even of the same model, there is no dialup tone. Replace to the original base and you should be back in service.

How many handsets do you have on this system? Just the one for the base unit?

Hello, While I cannot locate that model in any Uniden database (you might want to find the literature), It sounds as if the handset may be communicating with its base, but you have lost the dial tone. Did any storms pass through recently? Here is what you do. Go to your base and push the locator button on your base station to call the handset via the page/locator function. If it rings the handset and you can answer it okay then you know your handset is working well and communicating with your base (the radio portion is working correctly). If it does not ring your handset then your Uniden is definately bad (radio wise). But, I am going to guess that it is okay but you still cannot communicate with the outside world and dial out to get dial tone or get an incoming call. Okay, so we have a dial tone problem. The next step is to see if dial tone is getting to your base. So you will need to take another good telephone, preferably a handy "line powered" telephone (no batteries or ac adapter needed) you can use in a power failure emergency. Take that good phone and plug it into the phone cord you unplug from your Uniden base. If you get dial tone, then your uniden does need repair. If it does not get dial tone, then you have a bad cord, jack or something in your phone wiring. If thats the case, change cords, look for corrosion, dirt or bent pins in the jack on the wall. My guess is that your Uniden has gone bad, likely from a slight surge on the phone line. You need to reset the main base unit. Unplug the power from the back of the base. While the power is disconnected, press and hold the delete key while reconnecting the power. Wait for a long beep tone. When the display shows 88 or P, press play button one time. If you have a phone without an answering machine, disconnect the power from the back of the base, press and hold find hs button while reconnecting power.
