I bought a TI-84 recently, and it was working fine. One day the screen froze and I 'reset' it, and then when I turned it back on, the TI-84 kept delaying and freezing. :( And I've tried everything I've seen on the internet!! Also, when I try to connect it to my PCs, it shuts off, and it won't turn back on until it isn't connected to my computer, and then it says Ram cleared. (i know what ram cleared means) It isn't the cord, because I've tried this with two, it isn't the Pc, I've tried it with three, and it isn't the port on the calc because it only shuts off when the PC is turned on. Please tell me what to do, I don't want to have to buy a new one or trash it, I want to fix it! Thanks for helping. :)
I had that same problem.
the blinking black box on my calculator would stay on.
every time I turned on my calculator, it would say 'ram cleared'
if I held down a button for 2 seconds or so, it would finally respond
SOLUTION:
blow really hard into the I/O port. It fixed it for me!
I have had TI connect for quite a while, and recently I started having the same issue. I'm running Windows 7. I was able to get it to work by forcing it to run in compatibility mode. To do this, you need to right-click on the program icon and click "properties". In the window that pops up, click the "Compatibility" tab, select the checkbox that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for", and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" in the box below. Click OK and try to connect again.
