Voltages sometime increase/decrease during power outages. This mainly afftects the power supply of a lot of electronics equipment.
1. Check the fuse.
2. Check primary components like; Bridge rectifier, filter cap, switching components etc.
3. Check secondary (cold) side once you isolate the primary side to be ok.
Please consult a professional technician if you are not skilled in electronics repairing.

Sharp Flat Screen lc- 42sb45u It seems that whatever it is that controls the power (off/on) in my tv is not working correctly. The tv will not turn on using the remote or power button on the tv....

sounds like it could be a power supply problem - this is a common symptom for a failing capacitor. If you are handy with a soldering iron, you could replace yourself. Look for capacitor which has a bulging top located on the power board.

To long to come on

I would start with checking the capacitors. Replace any with bulged tops

My Sharp LC-42SB45U takes 15 min to an hour to turn on. Also, sometimes picture blacks out for 10-15 seconds. Any suggestions? Pat Courson

Have same problem. Not the proper fix though I found that taking the back off and heating it up with a heat gun for 30 seconds to 1 minute and tv works fine till you shut it off over night.Maybe someone can offer a solution with that in mind. Pretty strange

Digital audio on lc 42sb45u

They are all wrong. I have this TV. What you think is an optical output actually isn't. The only audio output is coaxial and unfortunately it doesn't work with the HDMI inputs. This TV is a headache if your blue ray player only had HDMI.

Aquos 42 won't turn on

Try unpluging it for 30 seconds and plug it back in. This is how some electronics are reset.

LC-42SB45U will not find channels from setup Auto Ch Search. Also tried reset with no results

Make sure you getting a good signal and that you are properly connected to the tv. If all else fails, look into replacing the main board.
