Most GPS units get time from the GPS, and add an offset for your timezone.

If you are in the Eastern Daylight Savings zone, (Toronto, Florida, Buffalo etc), the offset should be -4.0. After the time change, in November, it would become -5.0.

If you are in Newfoundland, Canada, your offset should include an extra half hour.

Time zone can be set according to page 43 of the manual:

    1. From page 2 of the Main Menu, tap User Options.

    2. Tap System Settings.

    3. Tap Time Zone

    4. Use "-" and "+" buttons to cycle through the time zones until the time zone for your area is displayed.

    5. Check Daylight savings if daylight savings is in effect for your timezone. (Daylight savings is not automatically adjusted.)

    6. Tap Save.

it has to be taken apart. The battery is ss specific to the unit so you might want to take it to a distributor to get it changed.

The gps will not turn on

well thats a guess only you can really determine

If you have connected it to a power source and it wont turn on after say 30 mins of charge... then it may well be a collapsed battery. But most times in these situations you get a glimmer of start.
Replace battery..

If nothing happens at all, feel the transformer part of the charger ( unless its USB PC type) to see if there is any warmth to indicate it is working. If you have a multi meter place the MM needles on the outer barrel of the plug and the inner and set voltage to 5.5 or ^v if you get a reading then the unit is OK and back to the GPS.

You also need to inspect the input plug to ensure it has not detatched itself from the board. There is no internal fuse or user servicable parts inside, other than the battery. This can be removed and replaced if you are careful when opening it and not lose screws.

It is often better to send it to a Magellan agent to have this done as it then has either 30 days warranty or sometimes 3 months.
