Hi jon bernardo...

To fix an unresponsive touchpad on your laptop, reactivate it by using the Function key on the keyboard and the Fn key.

This process is different for each computer manufacturer.
If unsure which Function key enables and disables the touchpad, try each one at a time and then
attempt to use the touchpad after each one.

A...Locate the "Fn" key of the laptop keyboard.
The "Fn" key has different colored text or the key is a different color.
B...Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.
The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.
C...Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key at the same time to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.
Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works. Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.
Note: Mac computers use "F2" to enable and disable the touchpad.
D. Sony Vaio Users: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Double click the Mouse icon.
Look at the top left hand side of the page, at the top and make sure that the "Tapping" box is unchecked, if it is checked then, you will uncheck it.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

You will have a push button just above the touch pad, if you push that button it will activate the touch pad...
Alternatively you will have the touch pad symbol printed on one of the function keys (f1 to f12), if you presss the "fn" and corresponding function key it will activate the touch pad...

I have an Acer Aspire 5517. Just the other day, my touchpad and keyboard stopped working. What do I do?

1 . Look for Fn function key - Most laptops have this special key Fn that is next to the Ctrl key on the keyboard. It should have a blue or green color, easy to find.

2 . Look for F1 to F12 functions keys, they are on the top row of the keypad. Look for one has an icon that looks like the touch pad, which is to control the touch pad of your laptop. It maybe F8 or F9 depends on each make of your laptop. These function keys also control the brightness, sound, wireless etc.

3 . Now hold down the Fn key and the F10 key to enable the touch pad, in this example, the Toshiba laptops. You press them again to disable it

4 . If none of the above works, plug in an USB mouse, then check into the Control Panel -> touch pad or mouse configurations. Also, check Device Manager if the touch pad driver is installed and working properly.

Thanks.Have a great day.

Microwave shows F2 on display with controls non functional

HI. this is a code that represents a failed key pad or touch pad membrane board. replacing this failed touch pad will fix this issue. This touch pad board is separate from the actual control board.

Touch pad failed.

Look along the top of the keyboard for an "f key" that shows a "touch pad" icon, IF you see it, press the "function key" (along the bottom of the keyboard) PLUS at the same time the "f key" (that you found along the top) and that should "toggle" the touch pad back on....
Also, IF you plug in a USB mouse that will allow you to move the cursor around--but the USB mouse doesn't fix your touch pad problem.
Hope this helps.

Touch pad's function of scrolling vertically and horizontally is not working. All the other functions are fine.

The touch pad drive needs to be installed. XP will provide basic function support for a touchpad,. Advanced features require the specific discrete driver from the manufacturer
