NorStar M7324 Telephone Logo

Our phone system rings three times (on the caller's end) before the standard greeting connects. We use Avaya and Caller ID and it seems it is standard with that program and calling feature that the calls ring so much before the greeting comes. However, other businesses will have calls connect before the caller ever hears a ring at all. Which phone systems are these?

yes, but it will still ring two times. wow, i am definitely not computer/tech, i just noticed the heading of my posting, "Our phone system rings three

Is this an IP Office?
This is how it works. For some reason the IP Office waits for teh first 2 rings to get caller ID, and then lets the call ring in.

yes, i believe it is. i am not the IT dept, but that is what i was told, (about the rings). the same thing, rings twice and the third is heard b/c of the caller id. darn, so no solution? ty for your reply. :)

Can we have caller ID on the 3158-05

The Avaya 3158-05 does not have a display. It can't show the Caller ID information from the telephone provider. The Avaya 3158-07 PARTNER 18D or the 34D will display Caller ID information if your system is connected to a telephone line. (One of these modules: 206EC, 308EC, or 400EC, is required. If you have a T1 line, you can't get Caller ID.)

I hope this helps.

If I turn off the ringer does this also turn off caller ID?

Turning off the ringer won't affect the caller ID display. All that happens when you turn off the ringer is that the phone doesn't make noise any more. The ringing signal and caller ID information from the phone company still will reach the phone.

No caller ID. TP company says I have service.

  • Did you fully charge your phone? - Make sure you fully charge for 16-24 hours .

  • Is the battery old? - Replace the battery.

  • Is the electrical outlet switch turned on? - If you are using AC (electrical) power, make sure that the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet.

  • Are the connecting wires tight - Unplug the AC power converter from the unit and plug it back in.

  • Do you have Caller ID service with your telephone company - In order to receive Caller ID records, you must subscribe to the standard name and number Caller ID service available through your local telephone company. If the Caller ID works for normal calls but not on Call waiting calls, then you must contact your phone company to get the combined CID/CW service.

  • Caller ID shows up after second ring - Be sure to wait until the second ring before answering. Caller ID signals comes through after the first ring, if caller pick ups phone too soon Caller ID signal will not be transmitted to the handset.

  • Confirm that caller ID is still working on that particular line by checking another phone on the same line - If Caller ID is not coming through contact your phone company provider.

If this does not fix your problem, contact your authorized Service Center.*

HOW TO GET CALLER FOR MY PARTNER 18 D PHONE

Please press "Feature 59" on a display phone. That will tell us the release of the phone system. Your system may not be caller ID capable. The reason you are getting caller id on your cell, when the phones are forwarded is because you are paying for caller ID on your cell phone....and your cell phone is caller ID capable.

I have a partner acs rel 7 with a voice mail card (large) 16 mailboxes. I set the time to the correct time at ext. 10, and it holds for maybe 15 minutes or until a call rings in, then the system clock...

With the new firmware of the 5x9 syncs the time of the phone system from the data of Caller ID. The provider is sending the wrong time stamp on the caller ID.

They did that to compensate for the new daylight savings time change.

INCOMING CALLS

Not sure it this is a solution for ALL your problems, but...

I had a similar issue: Phone rings, caller ID info displays then seems to hesitate, then displays only "INCOMING CALL."

The issue seemed to be caused by interference with other devices on the same line (in my case, an alarm system).

Tech support had me change a setting on my TRU9466 base unit (this is one of the PowerMax 5.8ghz models). This is how we did it step-by-step on the base unit:

MENU
GLOBAL SETUP
IN-USE LINE SETUP
select LINE 1
switch to TYPE B

This seems to have solved the Caller ID "interference" issue -- my Caller ID now displays as it should. The Tech Support person suggested trying that TYPE A/TYPE B setting on "OFF" if TYPE B didn't solve the problem, but thankfully, it did.

Now Cheryl, it sounds like your issue is more involved than this -- I didn't have any connection problems -- but perhaps they're related -- you might try my solution.

Caller id

Unfortunately just adding caller ID to your phone line will not work with many business phone systems, especially older systems.

You can have this phone on one of several different Toshiba phone systems. The system must have caller ID equipment installed and programmed correctly for caller ID information to be shown on your phone's display.

Caller ID information is transmitted between the first and second ring. With business phone systems the system itself needs to collect this information and then pass it along to any phones that are programmed to ring at any given time.
