Canon imageCLASS® MF4150 All-In-One picks up all calls on our second line.
Hello,
We just installed a Canon imageCLASS MF4150. The problems is the fax is picking up all calls that come in on that line and are not distinguishin between voice or fax.
Here's how we have our telephone system set up. We have two lines and a two lined answering machine. If a call comes in on line 1 and noone picks it up, the answering machine will pick it up and any messages recieved go into the line 1 mailbox. If you call line 1 and it is busy, the call rolls over to line 2 and if it goes unanswered, line 2 of the answering machine will then take a message. Line 2 is primarily a fax line, but occassionally we do take calls on that line if line 1 is occuppied. We need to continue with this type of setup.
With our old fax machine, the machine was able to distinguish whether calls on line 2 were voice or not, and would automatically pick up fax calls.
I've followed the manual and have tried the - this ended up having the fax going to the answering machine. I should mention, the answering machine is setup in a different part of the building. When I tried the setting, the fax machine automatically picked up every call. I do have an extension phone plugged into, but really we don't need an extension phone on the fax machine. Same scenario with .
i have a custom ring setup for the fax, how do you set the fax up so it will only pickup the custom ring tone and not all callsi have a custom ring setup for the fax, how do you set the fax up so it will only pickup the custom ring tone and not all calls

call the number you are faxing from a regular phone. If you get fax tones you need to check you fax line. Plug a non-digital phone into the fax line and place a call. Try that and let me know the results
