Tip & How-To about Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD Recorder

DVD stuck on Panasonic DMR ES10 in eternal cycle of "self check"/"please wait"

My DMR ES10 was eternally in a "self check"/"please wait" cycle. Couldn't even turn it off normally. By pressing the "Power off" for 10 seconds it will turn off forcefully. Now, after it says "BYE" press the "CH UP" (on the recorder, NOT on the remote))+"STOP" (with the recorder turned off) for another 10 seconds. This will force the opening and we now can take the DVD off. Turn the DVD recorder ON and, if the problem is on the laser, because of dirt, etc it will work and we can now run a DVD cleaner. In this case, the machine was stuck just because the first thing it does is check the DVD inside, and because it can't and just keep trying, it will never do anything else, until we take the DVD off with it turned off.

Self check for over an hour

While the unit is switched off, Jim, press and hold the STOP and Channel Up buttons (BLACK SQUARE and CH/\) on the unit (NOT the remote) for 5-10 seconds and your disk should eject.

Good luck!

Can't record DVD+RW and DVD+ Disks...PLUS

Firstly, you need to finalize the -R disk recorded by and in your unit before it will play back anywhere else.

Secondly, the DMR-ES10 does not support +RW, only -RW.

Finally, I have never heard of a +D. Do you mean +R? It is likely that you have a corrupt disk; change it.

u99

A U99 error code signifies a general communications failure and is not associated with any specific problem. It could even be related to the firmware version of your DVD recorder.

Try turning off the power and unplugging off-unplug for at least five minutes before reconnecting.

If U99 reoccurs, you should contact the Global Service Center Network for assistance.

Good luck!

dmr es10

I guess you must've hit a sequence on your remote to lock it up, try unplugging for a few hrs and turning it back on to see if it goes back to normal.
