How to position the two little plastic hoses going

This is much easier than you think; the carburetor has two ports, one supply one return, the return port is the top port which allows excess fuel to be returned to the fuel tank when pressing the primer bulb. The bottom port is the intake that supplies fuel to the carburetor to be mixed with air and pushed into the cylinder for the combustion cycle. Both lines connect to the tank, the line with a cylindrical looking object is the supply line, that object is the fuel filter, so it would be connected to the bottom port of the carburetor. I hope that helps.

Pull cord will not retract

Have to take all 3 plastic covers (housings) off to get to the spring and tie the new pull rope or change the spring. Just did mine, spring just unlatched and string wouldn't retract. Did not have to by any new parts....works great! Took me 1 hour to get it done.

Plastic dome used to prime has hole

The primer ball can be bought at any local mower shop. Just ask for a primer bulb. Remove the screws (usually 2) next to the bulb and remove the plate around the bulb and it should pop right out.

There might be a safety switch on the hatch and due to a weak spring or corrosion the system is being shut down because it thinks there is a safety issue. See if you can find the switch and clen it and check the wire connections for a bad connection.

How do I replace the fuel filter and the two fuel

Take your Model number of your machine and the model, type, and code of your motor to your local small engine repair shop and have them get you your replacement filter and also pick up new gas line. When you replace your fuel lines do one at a time. All you have to do is pull a fuel line off, cut new line to length and re install. As to the filter in the tank, I usually take a coat hanger and fish it up to the top and then use needle nose pliers to grip it. Then just pull off the old filter and install new one.

good luck

Homelite 2 yard broom 170

You have found the HI and LOW settings. The idle wouls be set by starting and warming the unit up. After warm up, take your screwdriver and turn the LOW screw OUT until the engine starts to lose RPM's. Turn the screw IN until it starts to lose RPM's. Once you have those two points, back the screw about halfway between. You can do the same for the HI setting if you need to. Good luck...Lee

Need a diaphram

I don't know about where you live, but I was able to get a replacement diaphragm for a Homelite blower that I own at my local Ace Hardware store. I took the old one with me for comparison purposes and they had one that matched up. I would check it out and they may even be able to order one in if they don't have it in stock. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Is it a gas oil mix?

Yes, most likely. I am not sure what model you have, but if you don't put oil in the crankcase, then it is. I would mix 50:1 ratio. Use optimix. one tube for a gallon of gas. It burns clean and they warranty any motor you use it in. When you use this, it doesn't matter the ratio, so you can use it in all of your 2 stroke units. Also, it won't hurt a four stroke unit either.

Homelite ht-17 magneto

Go to Gardnerinc.com and click on consumer. Then click on partsmartweb. On the left side of this page change your selection from Kohler to Homelite Consumer Products and enter your model number. You have it as HT 17. This brings up a lot of different equipment so I would enter just part of the serial number or the ut number. This is located on the body of the trimmer on a silver tag.
This will take you to the parts illustration and parts list for your trimmer.

My home lite yard broom blower has a vibration at hi rpm

I'm not sure if I have an answer, but I had one that had a broken impeller on the pick-up fan. You can check this by removing the shroud in front of the pick-up fan on the bottom of the blower and check that all of the impeller's are the same size.

My leaf blower is leaking gas

Check the gas hoses (or hose connections) connected from the gas tank to the carb. to see if the hose(s) has holes someplace or lose connections. If all is ok in that area check to see if you carb have vibrated loose allowing gas to escape. You can also check to see if the carb needs to be cleaned and diaphragm replaced if it is no longer soft and pliable. Sometimes the diaphragms in carb turn to paperlike substance when exposed to gas for any length of time and will not close off that area of the carb allowing it to leak gas.l
