Homelite 'Yard Broom' Leaf Blower - Page 6 Questions & Answers
Will not start, I changed
First of all check the gas.is it full or empty or got low.also check by refilling fresh gas.----------------
The pistons and rings are poorly made in this units and when the engine heats up and expansion occurs the engine cannot develop the compression it needs to keep running---it dies and willl not restart.
If starting from cold is the problem, take out the spark plug....is it clean? No---that's because of the oil leak caused by the above. A clean plug, tho' means either no spark, bad gas (is the gas old?) or bad carb (get some cheap carb cleaner). If a small engine wont start its usually one of two problems, its not getting gas, or its not getting spark. easy way to find out if its getting a spark is to remove the plug, put it back back in the connector and just let it hang down while you try to start it. you should see a bright blue spark, if you dont try changing the spark plug. if its getting a spark then its a gas problem.either gas is low/empty or getting blocked.
the homelite yard broom (leaf blower) gas mixture is 32:1 gas to oil.
This will help. Thanks please keep
updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya
Homelite Yard Broom won't start
I woukld start with the gas, make sure your runing the gas/oil mix and you dont have too much oil in it. That will make it hard to start/stay running. If you have spark and compression there is no reason it shouldnt run unless the air/fuel knobs have been adjusted? Was it working fine before and all of a sudden started acting up or was it after you added new gas etc??
Won't start after replacing the plug. there is
get another plug theres a lot of bad small engine plugs on the market that are no good right out of the box! i run into 15 last summer working on weedeaters and chain saws and lawnmowers
Leaf blower will only run on half choke, &
the exhaust side of the engine is clogged with carbon. clean the carbon from the port and spark arrestor screen and it should go away. to preveent this again run your unit at full throttle all the time or at idle never inbetween
Hi guy's by blower won't start or fire i think jet
Unless you have fiddled with the carb, it's not the carb. Check spark with an in-line spark checker then check compression with a compression tester...if these two test good THEN it may be the carb. If you need to know how to use those tools or where to get those tools, let me know here.
Homelite gas leaf blower losing power
There might be a small screen in the exhaust (it's a spark arrestor) that gets plugged with carbon. Will cause loss of power and eventually the machine will not run. You can just take the screen out and it will run better. Check the exhaust ports (look into the cylinder area after you take off the muffler) and see if it/they are plugged. If so, use only plastic or wooden items to clear the carbon out. Be careful not to get any in the cylinder. If you do, pull the starter rope several times to blow out the carbon.
Otherwise, some fuel line cleaner would be a good try to assist in the problem.
I have a Homelite leaf blower that will start and
Sounds to me as though the fuel line that supplies the carburetor has been pulled out so that it is above the fuel when tank is 1/2 empty, or there is a crack/break in the fuel line inside the tank. Not a hard job to replace the fuel line, but takes patience. If your machine has 2 lines, only take 1 off at a time to avoid confusion as to which one goes where on the carburetor.
