I don't think there is any way to tighten or repair leak other then by replacing grommet. sorry I'm not much help but coleman powermate is no longer in business and I have had no sucess in finding a source for parts for you.Thank you and good luck.

This overflow can be caused by:

1. The float sticking

2. Gas inside of the float air chambers

3. The needle and seat have debris in them or a r damaged.

It is not a difficult fix but it does mandate removal of the carburetor float bowl.

You could probably do this yourself. It is much easier if you place the generator on a high work area so you can see the float and needle once you have the float bowl removed. Just make sure you do not drop the float assy so far that the needle comes out of the seat unless you have to remove the hinge pin SCREW for the float to clear the debris near the needles' pointed rubber head.

Harold, it sounds like fuel based issue, have you checked the screen on the fuel tank? this should be a gravity feed, and not pumped fuel...Try an external fuel supply, for testing purposes....

Hi, did you check the fuel filter in the tank? There is a fine screen in the tank that could be clogged.

your main jet is plugged shut off fuel, remove bowl from carb(bottom of bowl) clean out small holes on screw with stranded wire .2 holes on side on in middle. be sure to put fiber washer back between main jet and bowl and use fresh gas jor

If you feel comfortable taking the tank off yourself, there are many good plastic repair compounds out there that are fuel resistant. There are products designed to go on the inside of a motorcycle tank to fill rust pinholes on older bikes. it is called kreem.

do a search on plastic repair, and try one of the two part repair compounds. Harbor freight sells a plastic welder that will allow you to melt the tank and add plastic filler rod straight to the problem area, or you can use a soldering iron to melt the hole closed. be sure to wash the tank out with dawn dish soap first to get rid of the gas residue. dry it out good before the repair.

A friend of mine had one of these units, it was doing the same thing. Opened it up and found one of the two field diodes bad. Went ahead and replaced both, about 3.50 ea. Full power under load now

Did you check the dipstick, it may say on there, you could contact the manufacturer. If it is 4 stroke probably SAE 30. It it is 2 stroke (not likely) you need to mix gas and oil together.
