you can find the master reset option in settings menu....once do the master reset and the phone starts working as a new one but rememner all the data will be lost...back up all the data before doing the master reset

1. may be urs files corrupted, again downloads this file
2. u not properly installed,
3. reset urs mobile application, again reinstall urs jad files.

make sure the card is the correct type that your phone supports, then check that the card lock is set to open/unlocked, and format the card using a PC, then format it again through the phone.

1.check if you have the latest version of PC suite and it is Walkman version (not cyber-shot).
2.If you have the latest then try reinstalling the PC suite
3.go to start>help and support>search for "enable network">click the first result


see if your network is disabled.......
4.If enabled, right-click and select troubleshoot.

Answer to your first query, can your sms's be saved, NO they can't if you are facing a corrupt message, it means that you were saving the texts on your phone and the phone memory is corrupted, as well as your firmware, to get your phone back to work, you need to update your firmware ASAP, to do an update you need the SE Update utility, you can download it from here for free, all you should have is the USB Data Cable.

After downloading, install and run the application, your phone should be 50% charged and the PC should have an active internet connection as the application will automatically search the firmware from web and will install it to your phone, I hope you will do it yourself.

bought unlocked 580i put sim card in and it recognised it but still no network coverage

It is possible that your display gets cut off fromthe main board becasue there is a flexible strip connecting cord that would have got cut and disconnected the display . This happens becasue of the slide action and a fault that comes with long use. The stip wries needs to be changed which you need to do it at a serrvice replair shop. Hope this works as thought. 1) Plz call the service provider and say about the sim status,he will reinstate the Sim card
2)The mobile simcard slot is damaged its malfunctioning,so you have to take it for a repair or try keep some paper behind battery and Sim card for tight holding of the sim card.
3)try the Sim card with other phones and find out the exact reason
4)The phone restarts because the software firm says when it gets the inactive_flag it will automatically restarts,so it can be any one software or hardware....
