My GE microwave convection oven JVM1790SK 01. It has started to make a load grinding noise, and is sparking above the cavity area, otherwise it operated properly. When I remove the fan assembly part

The fan is for air circulation regulation, e.g. preventing steam (and smoke) from building up inside, and also stops air pressure from building up inside so you won't get a blast of steam coming out or worse. On the convection side it heats the food faster and more evenly. You will need to replace the fan assembly to keep the microwave safe. the noise and sparks are probably due to spent bearings and / or a dislodged fan scraping against another surface or something getting in the way of the fan

I have a GE Profile

Most rack support problems I have seen are from food splatter or grease getting around the support and even seeping behind it. Once it starts burining it must be replaced. It is really important to keep the area around them clean and dry and free from food splatter. A Microwave cannot tell what is on a plate or on the wall or rack support, and every food particle cooks each time the unit is run, until it turns to a carbon deposit and starts to attract the microwave energy and starts to ARC to that point. Then it burns up the part it is arcing to. Have to replace support and scrub the area and inside of the cavity perfectly clean.

Clock displaay very dim

You would probably have to replace the control panel circuit board, or send it in for repair. There are companies that repair these for about $39, or less. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/david_29ad5d1dd86564b0

Yes... Not very sophisticated... but that is what these beauties do when their Magnetron finally gives up the ghost (major cause). They are wonderful machines! Magnetron AP3883525 (WB27X10865)... approximately $104... at appliance parts pros If you love them... you know what you need to do. and Fuse: Very good... you have an excellent beginning. Keep up the good work. These "parts" can be EARLY failed... by putting very small pats of butter... or ting amounts of fluid. I watched my sisters grand children using her "NEW" microwave to soften pats of butter. A word to the wise wasn't heard... and now she has another "NEW" Microwave. Good luck... save $$$

7 yr old unit emitting burning smell. Everything still works. Is it worth trying to get repaired or just buy a new one.

is the burning smell just when you use the convection oven or when you use the microwave , reason I ask is that if its only coming from the convection oven then chances are you have something melted on the heat elements , this can be cleaned off with a dry brillo pad

How to fix key pad on ge convection oven jvm1790bk. Pad stopped working

The control panel is actually 2 different parts and either could be bad. Do you have the display still lighting up or is it completely dead? If it is out it could the main smart board. If it still lights but no buttons work then it could still be the smart board or just the key pads which are a separate part. Neither part can be fixed just replaced.
