The battery is probably dried up. They are only good for 3 or so years.

HOLD DOWN THE POWER BOTTON UNTILL IT RESETS. IT COULD TAKE TWO OR THREE MINS BEFORE IT RESETS.

If you hold the power button down for 10 seconds while it is on it will power off completely. Plug in the GPS and allow it to charge completely, then apply the software update from the mfg website following their directions exactly.

If your unit popped and crackled, sound like something has blown internally. You will need to send the unit in for repair.

if you just bought this, im sure the voice should be unlocked already since its part of the advertised features of the 3250. it should also have the live traffic feature for up to one year.

If you're looking for the Magellan Maestro Applications you can download it here. Please click on the link below and you will be directed to the Magellan's official support download site. They all have the complete software application together with instructions on how to install them. Please follow the basic steps below on how to download the application.

1. Go to this site: Magellan

2. You need to download the Content Manager so your Magellan GPS navigator can deliver new map and updates and product information.

3. After downloading, install the Content Manager to your computer.

4. Turn on your GPS. You need to wait for the menu to appear then connect to your Computer using the USB cable provided.

5. Content manager will automatically prompt you about the update. If Content Manager does not prompt you, right click on the Content Manager icon located in the system tray and select "Check for updates now". Content Manager will inform you if you have the latest software already installed.

--> the system tray is located in the lower right hand corner of your computer screen near the clock.

You can go to Magellan's website but I can assure you there are no map updates for free.
Try resetting the unit.
Turn it on and find the tiny hole marked reset - -then push and hold a paperclip in the hole until it resets. Try this 3 times if you want to clear it out and start with the maps it came with.

Most likely the maps are either missing or corrupt. There is an update for this model of GPS from the mfg website.

no, you wont loose your maps if your battery goes dead. if you loose your maps, you have other issues. correct me if im wrong, but doesnt your 3250 have a map card. i would suggest backing up your maps on to your computer, if there still there...i always back up every gps i get.

are you concerned your battery is going dead, if so, why? that unit is know to develope a bad connection in the usb port (your power port)
