Janome 6019QC Mechanical Sewing Machine - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Machine has stopped completely
This model is known to blow the fuse (3.0 amp) in the power board. A repair shop can replace it with a new style one (3.15 amp).
Good luck!
How do I change the position of the needle
You may only be able to adjust this one or two spaces. When you have the straight stitch selected, try moving you stitch width slide wider. If you needle is in the correct position, you should see it move as you slide the lever.Sewing Machine Tech
Thread tension problems
make sure that you have the machine correctly threaded up, sometimes you can miss a little hook that the thread must pass through. This done look at your machine and find the round knob nearest to the needle, that has numbers on it. Turn this to around the 5 mark and try to use the machine. If this provides some tension, then you need to keep moving it, by tiny increments and sewing to check to see if it is working better, until you find a tension where your stitches are even on both sides of the sewn fabric (ie you should not be able to feel anything different on either side and they should look that same) that will be the ideal tension - once set DO NOT TOUCH IT AGAIN. If nothing happens when you move this button then it is probably broken and needs to go to the shop
How do I clean thread tension plates ?
you can try cleaning them with thread or unwaxed dental flossand maybe a can of computer air and if that doesn't help then itwould be a good idea to have the machine checked to see if the tension dial needs to be replaced.
Always thread breaks
try these suggestionsThe needle thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle
Machine stitches 2 0r 3 stitch then skips stitches on rest of seam
try changing the needle
Sewing machine skips stitches
needle inserted incorrectly--flat side of the needle faces the shaft
round needle--groove of needle faces away from the shaft
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the clamp screw to remove the needle. Place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back of the machine.
If round needle--the groove in the needle faces away from the shaft
Push needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go.
possible bent needle--lay needle on flat surface & roll needle over, if the needle does not roll good -replace
blunt needle point--needle makes a popping sound when needle penetrates the fabric--replace needle
needle not all the way up in needle holder--loosen needle clamp screw & push the needle up until it stops then tighten screw
incorrect threading--one step missed in sequence of threading can cause machine to skip stitches
wrong needle in machine--check instruction manual--some machines can use a generic needle with no problem--some can't--
size of needle & thread not compatible--
Using the wrong type needle can cause problems,,
A needle to fine for heavy fabric can bend or break when it hit's the fabric
And a too large needle can make puncture holes in the fabric and pull unevenly while stitching
