Power button does not work

you must need to open the rear cover to access the part, then if you know how to test a tact switch using an analog tester just to know if it is worn out or no contact.

The monitor has a blank screen..the power button

Hello Steve Raywood,Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!To answer your question: The power supply board in this monitor needs to be diagnosed. If It were me, I would remove the power supply board and check for bad (cold) soldier joints and capacitors. If those are good, then I would test the +5V and -5V power supply transistors. If she knows of a local Television Repair professional, she could have all of this done for her. It may be just as easy for her to hit a sire like www.newegg.com or www. tiger direct.com and order a replacement monitor.Have a great day!

Samsung 216bw does not turn

Hello,

The problem you are having is an indication of a failing power supply. There are parts called capacitors that fail and cause the power supply to not start up correctly. When you keep pressing the start button the voltages coming out of the power supply will finally stabilize and the monitor will display a picture until you turn it off then you have to start all over again. The power board can be easily repaired by replacing the ad capacitors. You can get information about the parts needed here: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=138 The repair will require you doing a little soldering but its very easy.

I hope this helps, if so please please rate our solution.

Monitor turns off every 30 seconds

It may have dying power supply due to bad caps.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/ Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Plugged in monitor all it shows is check signal

Does the monitor have both analog and digital signal sockets? If so, perhaps all you need to do is choose the other input using the buttons on the monitor?
