iPod Symbol Meanings The Apple iPod personal media player uses a set of symbols to communicate what's happening to the device: when it needs to be recharged or when it's experiencing problems. Sometimes it's not obvious what these symbols mean; problems with your iPod may cause conflicting or confusing icons to be displayed. Folder with an Exclamation Point This suggests that your iPod can't read data stored on it. Your iPod may simply not have enough charge in its battery to read its hard drive. If recharging it doesn't help, you can try connecting it to your computer, then updating it with the latest version of the iPod's software. If none of this works, you may have a dead hard drive; your iPod will need to be repaired. Battery with an Exclamation Point A battery with an exclamation point usually just means that your iPod needs to recharge. Once the battery has charged up again, everything should be fine. You can charge an iPod through a FireWire connection to a computer, but not if the computer is in sleep mode or switched off. Third-generation iPods cannot be charged via USB 2; later iPod models can, however. If you are having problems charging your iPod, try switching cables. You can also try resetting the iPod by pressing Play and Select together (Menu and Play on earlier models). If none of these methods help, your battery may need to be replaced. Empty Battery If the battery icon shows an empty battery, this means that your iPod is almost out of charge and needs to power up. If you know that the iPod has been charging for a while, and the battery icon is still empty, you may need to update its software. Older software can lead to a confused battery readout. Wall Plug with Power Adapter This means that your iPod needs to be plugged into an electricity supply while it updates its firmware. You won't be able to do anything else with it until you do this. Frowning IPod Icon with an Exclamation Point A picture of an iPod with a sad face and x-ed out eyes plus an exclamation point indicates a very serious problem with the device. In some cases, draining the battery completely then recharging and resetting the iPod can offer a short term solution, buying you enough time to back up your iPod's data. The underlying problem will remain and is likely to get worse until your iPod is repaired. Apple Logo A brief appearance by the Apple logo when the iPod is reset or switched on is normal and nothing to worry about. If the logo does not go away and the iPod doesn't boot up, there is a problem. You can often resolve this by putting the ipod in Disk Mode and then restoring or updating its software; note that you will lose all data stored on the iPod if you do this. If this doesn't work, your iPod needs specialist attention. Do Not Disconnect It is not safe to unplug your iPod when you see this icon. Wait till it goes away, then you can safely disconnect your iPod. Spinning Disk Icons The spinning disk and magnifying glass icon means that the iPod is performing a disk scan. If you don't want to perform a scan right now you can re-set the iPod; you'll see a disk with a cross when you stop the scan. If you would rather let the scan complete, you should connect the iPod to a power source as scanning drains the battery. If the scan finds issues but can fix them, you'll see a disk plus an arrow. If everything is alright, you'll see a disk plus a checkmark. If there is a problem that the scan disk function could not fix, you'll see a disk plus an exclamation point. It directs you to the Apple support site because either the iPod software is corrupted or there is a hardware problem. You should try to reset the iPod (try several times). Toggle the Hold switch to on, then back to off (none of the red is showing). Reset your iPod Press and hold down the Menu and Select buttons for 10 seconds (until you see the Apple logo) If you can update/reload the iPod software, this may fix the problem with your iPod. If that doesn't right the iPod, then try to restore it (which will erase the entire iPod and reload the software) in itunes. It will not erase your itunes library, only the files on the ipod itself. I hope this helps and good luck. Please vote appropriately and leave a message.

Ipod classic won't sync with itunes 10

Restarting your computer is often the solution when your iPod fails to sync with your iTunes music library. But if this fails, there are other troubleshooting steps to take. Recharge your iPod via a USB cable connected to your computer or AC adapter. b> Click the help menu in iTunes and check for updates. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the latest version of the software. Open the new version of iTunes. Click the name of your iPod in the source list and check for updates under the summary tab to update your iPod. Attempt to sync your iPod with iTunes. Slide your iPod's hold switch to the hold position and then to off. Press and hold the menu and center buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears to reset your iPod. Open iTunes on your computer and reconnect your iPod to try to sync it with iTunes. Restart iPod service b> Close iTunes and make sure your iPod is disconnected from the computer. Click the 'start' button. Click 'run' if using Windows XP. Type 'services.msc' in the run box in XP and in the search box in the start menu in Windows 7 and Vista. Press 'enter.' Scroll through the list and double-click on 'iPod service.' Click the 'stop' button and leave the properties window open. Connect your iPod to the computer. Open 'my computer' or 'computer' and look for your iPod listed in the devices with removable storage section. Click the 'start' button in the iPod Service's properties window. Open iTunes to attempt to sync your iPod. Close the iPod Service's properties window once your iPod has finished syncing. Resolve "Original File could not be Found" Double-click the name of a song in the iTunes program that failed to sync to your iPod. Click 'yes' or 'locate' to the message asking you if you want to locate the file. Navigate to the folder or directory location where the song is stored on your computer. Double-click the song file to select it and add it back to iTunes. Reconnect your iPod to the computer and open iTunes to restart the syncing process. Did not show vedio

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine the type of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI and WMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is an incompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to a format that your MP3 player uses. After video conversion then copy the video files to your MP3 player using the USB cable from your computer. HOW TO UNLOK THE A1136 IPOD

click start control panel scroll to folder options tick in the box to show hidden files and holdersconnect your Ipod to your computer click start click click on you Ipod to open then go Ipod controls device there should be a folder saying locked right click select rename to open or delete the folder your Ipod should now be openor you might do a factory reset

The iPod A1136 is the fifth generation iPod from Apple that uses a click wheel to scroll through your device's media library, and may occasionally lock up when you attempt to play a song or display a photo.

This error error occurs when the hard disk is unable to access the information and stalls while opening a file.

A reset of the device usually corrects the problem, as it clears the device's memory and any errors.

Check your iPod's buttons to determine if the cause is due to a hardware error before resetting the device, as the problem may be due to the iPod's hold switch.

Slide the hold switch at the top of the iPod to the right, and slide it back to the left to ensure the switch is in the off position.

Hold down the center button in the click wheel, and at the same time hold down "Menu" on the click wheel.

Continue to hold the iPod's buttons until the device's screen shuts off, turns back on and shows the Apple logo.

Plug the iPod's connector cable into the dock connector on the bottom of the iPod.

Plug the other end of the cable into your computer's USB or FireWire port to charge the iPod.

Wait at least two hours for the iPod to charge. Launch iTunes on the computer, and click "Controls" of the iTunes menu.

Click "Eject iPod" in the sub-menu to disconnect the device.

The iPod takes four hours to completely charge its battery.

hope this helps

Hi bashamdbashaIf you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the following:Connect your IPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one IPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked. If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this:1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.3. I NEED UPDATE IPOD SOFWARE

How to update iPod for Windows using Windows Vista, Windows XP or Windows 2000

Download and install the latest version of iTunes.

When you have the latest version, use the iTunes menus to check for updates.

On Windows choose Help > Check for Updates.

Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod and open iTunes if it is not already open.

If you want to update your iPod on a PC, it must be formatted for a PC.

If it is not, you will see a message stating that your iPod needs to be reformatted. I

f you receive this message, refer to Restoring iPod to factory settings before proceeding.

If you are unsure of your iPod's format, refer to iPod: How to determine your iPod's disk format.

If iTunes detects that a newer version of iPod software is available for your model, you will be prompted to download and install the new version.

If you have already downloaded the newest version of the software, you may be prompted to install it.

Depending on the iPod model and whether you use USB or Firewire to connect to your iPod, you may be asked to leave your iPod attached to the computer for the update to complete, or you may be asked to connect the iPod to the power adapter.

Note: not all iPod models ship with a power adapter. Be sure to follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update.

During the update process, you will notice that an Apple logo and progress bar appear on the iPod display.

Note: this may be difficult to see since the iPod's backlight will be turned off.

Once this is completed, you can resume normal use of your iPod.

If you notice a different icon on the iPod screen, refer to iPod iconology or what does this picture on my iPod mean? and the follow the related instructions.

hope this helps

Ipod model A1136 30 g

Press and hold the top and center buttons at the same time (upwards of 30 seconds), until the screen turns on (assuming it's charged, and also doesn't have water damage). If that doesn't work, plug it into your computer, and do it again. This time, when the screen comes on, let go of the top button, and it'll place the device in recovery mode. (look up instructions on how to place the device in recovery mode)
